Diving into the more traditional side of art by @Qartsi gives you a sense of curiosity mixed with contentment. Peaceful and serene tapestries meet elegantly composed descriptive poetry in the metadata.
“Between Water and Memory” serves as a strong example. A reflection over water, rolling hills, with a somewhat impressionistic touch to detail. This scene depicts an old coastal village yet emphasises the timelessness of the landscape. Also part of the “Evolve” collection.

Our gem of the week is @Qartsi, a curious explorer of art in its many forms, who says they thrive where innovation meets authenticity, explaining why Qartsi was one of the very first artists to mint artworks on hicetnunc in 2021.
From paint to pixels, manual to coded, there is a lot of amazing art to discover here. Fast forward from early on to today and you can see how the art evolves parallel to the Tezos blockchain, even sometimes including certain chain mechanics in their digital art installations.

In earlier releases on hicetnunc, we can find gems that predate the recurring character spotlighted above, including some intriguing PFP-style collections we'd love to learn more about during Artz Friday space. Take "♡.♡", a 1/1 illustration from the "Translating Emotions" series. Heart eyes, a brain-shaped third eye, tape over the nose, and a humble message in the description: "Collecting this and other 1/1 creations means supporting a dream of the artist to continue his craft while making a living." It ends with "Join Jakestudyos on his journey and evolution," along with a thank you to the collectors who helped him afford more art supplies. Drawing everything on an iPad lets Jake push static illustrations into another dimension entirely. It isn't called for in every composition, but when the art starts moving, he takes the opportunity to tell a richer story. "MUNDO" is one of those moments, a looping animation packed with meaning. Maybe, a mind consumed by longing for world peace, unity for you and me, while also tracing his own story of how an artist makes sense of it all.
There's something in the image symbolizing taking wood, shaping it into pencils, and drawing whatever the mind's eye sees. Spirituality and religion echo through the piece too, suggesting it shapes how we see ourselves both alone and together. Our gem of the week is @jakestudyos, an illustrator who tells the stories of his own daily life through a recurring character. The curly-haired, squiggly-mouthed man anchors every drawing, like the protagonist of his own story world, though he isn't always in frame. Maybe when he's missing, he's the one behind the camera.
In his latest drop, "Morning Gori," we find that character at his desk with a cup of coffee and a pencil in hand, more reflecting than writing. The words above him translate to "They really like that... we are fighting," yet his eyes are fixed on the green mountains outside, as if the real answer is simply to touch grass.

"Stratatide" takes mixed media at its word. Heavy brushstrokes press against rendered voxel edges, and the fluid motion lives right where they meet. Liquid against structured space. Water against land.
But there is a second read. As above, so below. The sky returns a magical reflection of the landscape beneath it, dualistic and still whimsical. The frame-by-frame glitch does the rest, pulling the tide in and out against the coastal barrier.

Our gem this week is @OGDSZN who makes compositional artwork that glitches and dances. Lately, you can find a lot of clouds in his work, many of which seem inspired by nature photography in general. Playing with reflections and placing several similar frames side by side creates a time-lapse-like glitch animation.
The collection “Beautiful Chaos” showcases this cohesively, taking the noise and turning that chaos into composition, making the corruption the texture. The idea that what is uncontrollable is also unforgettable. “Golden Anvil”

"Slit Spirals" is what happens when math meets creativity. A feedback loop rendered from a single drawn rectangle on a screen. Everything you perceive past that comes from recursive rotating slit scanning, which seems to be a technical path toward sacred geometry. The Fibonacci spiral being one clear example. One particular collection, “Vintage Car”, stands out as a showcase of technical skill, and it also reveals a fondness of classic cars. Something relatable across many cultures. Here we see “First Trip”, a reflection on personal memories, Artnaz’s first road trip in their rusty Fiat. Bringing a guitar to sing for good company.
