Here is the new section they have added. For context ERYC only have one single-sex school in their charge, Beverley High School for Girls, so this is a policy written specifically to allow boys into this girls school.

The real world impact of this policy is that, out of over 20 secondary school in East Yorkshire, girls wanting a single-sex education now have a choice of zero schools.

The council appear dead set on getting boys into this school at the expense of hundreds of girls rights and boundaries. It’s down to them to explain why this is, however I will continue fighting to keep this school single-sex for as long as I need to.

This is, I would maintain, illegal as well as a safeguarding fail. It is NEVER safe to lie about sex, and within schools the risk is high. There’s been a case of a girl who was raped by her best friend that she thought was female, but turned out to be male.
