Oklahoma friends, especially those of you who love pickleball, I have something very special I want to share with you. And I would absolutely love to see our community come together and fill this tournament! ❤️
I had the blessing of coaching Kinsey Wright in cheer from the time she was just 6 years old until she was in 7th grade. Kinsey was an absolute ray of sunshine. One of those little girls whose smile was contagious. Watching her grow up into such a beautiful young woman was truly an honor.
In October of 2023, Kinsey tragically lost her life in a car accident on her way to soccer practice. I still struggle to find words to describe what that loss meant to our kids, and parents, and our Bixby community. Some things in life simply don’t make sense, and losing a child is something no parent should ever have to experience.
But out of that unimaginable heartbreak, something beautiful was born with God’s love.
Kinsey’s parents created the Kinsey Wright Foundation, dedicated to helping families who have lost a child or sibling. They provide resources for grief counseling, financial assistance, and support for families trying to find their way through a loss that changes everything.
And now they’re hosting a pickleball tournament to help support that mission!
Here’s where I’m asking my Oklahoma friends to please participate. Whether you’ve been playing pickleball for years or have never picked up a paddle, there are divisions for all skill levels. You don’t have to be good. You just have to be willing to come out, have some fun, and support a wonderful cause.
I want to see every single one of these divisions FULL! For sweet Kinsey. For all the children whose lives ended far too soon, and for the parents, siblings, and families who have to figure out how to keep living after such a tremendous loss.
What better way to honor these children than by bringing people together for a day filled with laughter, friendship, a little friendly competition, and a whole lot of love?
I know Kinsey would have loved that.
So grab a partner, sign up, and play for Kinz. And if you can’t play, please share this. You never know who might see it and decide to join us.
Let’s fill those courts, Oklahoma! For Kinsey and for every family this foundation will help. ❤️
I will drop the link in the comments, along with the link for the Kinsey Wright Foundation.
