Me talking to my priest: yeah, I listen to a lot of Catholic podcasts. Joe Heschmeyer being my favorite. Do you know him? Priest: Yes! I know him very well. In fact, He and I studied at the same seminary together. Me: OH, so you know know him.

I cut my foot shaving a few months back and bled a bit on our bedroom carpet We tried Shout Carpet stain remover but that didn't remove anything. I told hubby Whip It is supposed to work on carpet wine stains too. He was highly skeptical. The stain disappeared in 2 secs
Not sponsored (I don’t do that stuff with this, maybe if I do Youtube someday) but we bought this at Sam’s Club after a demonstration, I was skeptical, but it actually really works well on stains

Spirit Airlines did the American population a huge service by simply existing This lady spent $700 just to have the worst flying experience of her life
We need to have a serious conversation about overweight people flying on commercial airlines. I’m flying on @AmericanAir and after paying extra money to upgrade my seat, I got stuck next to a man who is 300+ pounds and stripped mid flight. None of the flight attendants wanted to confront him. He smells like 💩 and weed. He’s literally sitting in my seat and keeps touching me. For context, he’s literally 300+ pounds and I’m 120. Why does American Airlines think it’s acceptable to treat people this way?! I tried reaching out discreetly during the flight, but they have no avenues to do that.

Replying to @Pontifex
I use AI to help illustrate my children’s books. Does that make the art bad? I set the style and scene, then make edits on the image as needed. I would not be able to publish them otherwise.

Saw this picture of Jesus in Burlington. Couldn't tell if it was A.I or not since it had glitter speckles on it (so there was some human involved in it's creation) Decided to buy it If any of you guys can confirm if it is in fact A.I art, I will yeet it from from house. Thanks!
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

So true Naval
I actually had a conversation with a bishop yesterday about this About the insidious proliferation of A.I everywhere in our lives It's all so exhausting He said something so profound that it made me pause He said we must try everything in our power to do tasks ourselves and not to rely on A.I for as long as we possibly can Even if A.I can do it much faster, even if A.I is more accurate Humans become better humans through struggling, through taking the more difficult path Then he said something that really hit it home He said, "God himself came down to Earth to redeem us, He could've sent an angel and could've saved humanity in 2 seconds. But He chose to struggle with us humans for 33 years" Why? Because God uses His suffering to redeem us God always chooses the more difficult path (for example, choosing to live inside a dark womb for 9 months instead of magically appearing as an adult), so, if we want to connect with God, aka become more like Jesus, we should follow His example and choose the more difficult path too. Yes even if it means something as benign as using MS Paint to design your flyers instead of A.I

If I was hiring a person for a role in the defense sector, and learned that one of the candidates engaged in similar activities to the Cornell 8, they're never getting an offer Not only does engaging in that debauchery demonstrate a total lack of good judgement, but if our adversaries get word of the event and start blackmailing them with it, the entire mission is compromised Abiding by Christian sexual ethics actually does wonders for your career

I see a lot of Christian masculinity podcasts telling their viewers as men they need to be constantly praying for their families Yes, that's good. But praying in isolation doesn't yield the same fruit as praying /with/ your family. You can commit to 1 hour of adoration a few times week and feel like you're doing something great. But what your children are actually experiencing is that their dad left them in the house for an hour. Did he go to the grocery store? Did he go to the bar to grab a couple drink with the guys? They don't have any clue what you're up to. I vividly remember being 9 and my dad taking my twin and me to Adoration every Sunday morning We got bored really quickly and began playing with the books in the pews, but my dad remained calm and continued praying silently for the whole hour We eventually began praying like him He demonstrated what being a faithful Catholic entailed, instead of leaving the house and doing his own thing.
I’m always fascinated by Christians who were solidly raised in the faith I mostly know people who either 1) left Christianity entirely or 2) came to it from some source other than their parents If your parents did well on this front, what do you think they did right?

All these families separation stories designed to make you feel sorry for immigrants should repulse you for a totally different reason. Trying to imagine my wife telling our kids, “sorry, I got let in somewhere better, but you aren’t allowed to come, so we’re going to have to be separated.” Every single parent in one of these stories is a monster. There should be like a million quotes from every single one of these parents saying, “obviously I will go to wherever my kid goes.”

Thinking about that Dad/markers-in-trash post that went viral a few days ago (I'll link in replies) Some people commended the dad, some thought he was too harsh At the end of the day, people inherently understand the importance of difference types of parental love and discipline Sometimes you need soothing, sometimes you need a smack on the bum Both are important If we were to relate this example to our spiritual life, with God being our spiritual Father and Mary being our spiritual Mother, you start to understand the importance of Jesus giving us His mother at the foot of the cross Sometimes you just need your momma when you get hurt, and sometimes you need your father to set you straight when you commit a sin Both are important

The viral post in question
husband has been helping more with house type stuff as I lay on the couch vomiting and such. the kids apparently had tossed their markers & colored pencils all over the ground under the table. I discovered this the next day when I went to get the coloring container and it was totally empty of markers and pencils. I asked him if he’d seen them. . . He swept them all up and threw them in the trash LOL Proof positive of when men say it’s “so much easier to stay home” hahaha Yeah it would be easier to just sweep up and throw away 100 markers and pencils vs. enforcing and monitoring the kids to pick them up or bend down 50 times and collect them yourself. Male brain is fascinating

I swear it's like the universe is playing tricks on me Every woman on my Twitter timeline is pregnant right now, but whenever I go out in real life, I'm literally the only pregnant woman within a 1000 mile radius It's like pregnancy doesn't exist in the state of Kansas For example: I was looking to buy a pregnancy belly belt because of back pain this weekend. I was like, I rather go in person and get it in an hour, than wait 2 days for Amazon shipping. I looked up where it would be available in store. The only company that still has it on their shelves, per google, is Walmart. I went to 2 Walmarts and THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT. They had a bunch of baby stuff, but hardly any products that support pregnant woman. I feel like I'm going crazy.

Coming to think of it Why /does/ a sociology degree cost the same as an engineering degree? 🤔🤔🤔
Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/NmmAzhf
