Steve Jobs decided to step down as a CEO of Apple just 10 days before he passed away, as he thought he no longer can meet his duties.
Steve Jobs was dedicated to give Apple a smooth CEO transition
And Tim Cook learned from him, once he thought he no longer can give it all of him, he gave the company its second smooth CEO transition and stepped down.
Here’s his resignation letter:
August 24, 2011
“To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know.
Unfortunately, that day has come.
Thereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.”
P.S.
Steve purchased Siri a year and a half prior, after calling Siri’s founders for 30 days trying to convince them to buy it.
Apple launched Siri just the day before Steve passed away.
Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011
Today marks 15 years since he died.
Couple years ago Apple created a book titled “Make Something Wonderful” to celebrate his life, and gave it to Apple employees.
I got the physical and digital versions of the book, would you like to see more photos?
When people think of Steve Jobs they think of Apple
But he’s done hardware, software, and even movies, without him Pixar and the new era of animations wouldn’t have become what it is today.
He released Toy Story movie in 1995.
Steve passed away in his home in Palo Alto, California at the age of 56, because his pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor came back.
Steve refused to go through the chemotherapy, he believed that his tumor was discovered early enough in 2003, that vegan/fruitarian diet, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and juice fasts were enough to get rid of it
Eventually in 2004 he had a surgery to remove it, but believed he didn’t need chemotherapy and the surgery was enough.
He kept saying that he’s cancer free and got a second life when doctors believed he needed chemotherapy or radiation or else his tumor may come back.
RIP Steve Jobs.
