Every U.S. firefighter can enroll in the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer (NFR) — career or volunteer, active or retired, with or without a diagnosis — and the researchers need all of it. If you're already tracking exposures in the IPSDI Exposure Tracker™, you can also opt in to share your exposure data with the NFR so the science can keep up with what you're actually facing as a firefighter today. More than 1,300 firefighters answered @FireRescue1 's fifth annual #WhatFirefightersWant survey. This year the subject was #training, and the results say something most of the #fireservice already suspected.
The motivation is there. Nine out of ten respondents earned a certification in the past five years. The system around that drive is where it breaks down — scheduling, staffing, facilities, and no consistent way to tell whether the drill actually made anyone better.
Every training officer who has stood in front of a budget committee knows how hard it is to fund a feeling. It's much easier to fund a number.

🧵 IPSDI has issued a Request for Quotation to extend the IPSDI Exposure Tracker to support disaster response.
The Exposure Tracker empowers firefighters to record their occupational exposure history. This project extends it to mass-casualty events, hazmat incidents, and large-scale multi-agency deployments that fall outside day-to-day exposures.
We are looking for a vendor to define which incident types to address, what exposure data points matter, how to model them, and what safeguards disaster-response data demands.
