Today, two commercial vessels were hit in Bulgaria’s economic zone in Black Sea. This comes just one day after a Turkish ship carrying Ukrainian grain was struck and sunk off the Romanian coast. While exact circumstances of these incidents are still being established, the developments are very concerning. Attacks on civilian shipping are unacceptable. We stand in full solidarity with our Member States on the Eastern flank.

I will never forget seeing Shani Louk’s mangled body in the back of that truck, as people laughed, celebrated, beat her and spat on her. I also won’t forget the reaction to it that I saw from some people here in Ireland. One of my old 'friends' had a picture of it on their Instagram story, posted in celebration. One thing I will never understand is how any woman could excuse away that complete and utter barbarism - that disregard for the life and body of another human being, another woman.
