I'm going to add onto this since I've seen some arguments talking about how fic writers shouldn't be speaking out because fics fall into a legal grey area and we've been uploading to an archive.

Idk i just feel like when ao3 is back up I need everybody to be heaps more graceful towards fic writers because if two weeks without their works is painful then maybe we shouldn't be discoursing weekly about how much you think they suck at writing.

Which is why we need to have this discussion on how fan fics are treated, and the courtesy of sharing them, since we haven't really faced something like this in recent times. However, unfortunately, it doesn't seem like that will happen.

if ao3 means so much to you and is such a big part of your daily life that you feel the weight of its absence now, let it also be a reminder about the importance of leaving kudos and comments even if its just a simple "i loved this!" to show writers you care about their hard work
