After leaving the Knicks in 1986, Brown spent 16 years as a commentator before returning to the sidelines to coach the Grizzlies. He returned to the booth after helming Memphis to their first Playoff berth, and called his last game in 2025.

After three years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jones was traded to the Boston Celtics in the 2015 offseason. He was released in October having never played a game for them, resulting in a phantom stint that's captured in NBA 2K16.

On this day in 1998, training camps for the upcoming season were postponed indefinitely, due to the lockout that caused NBA Live 99 to launch with 1998 season rosters. An official patch updated the rosters on PC after the lockout ended.
