The National Hurricane Center has issued their first cone of uncertainty for Tropical Depression Nine, which may become Hurricane #Isaias by tomorrow afternoon. While many details are still uncertain, including timing and exact location, there will be some big risks at landfall. The system is going to traverse extremely warm sea surface temperatures on its way towards the Louisiana-Mississippi-Alabama-Florida coast, possibly around Mobile, AL. TC tornadoes are also highly probable with this storm, especially around the northeastern quadrant in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia as it approaches landfall. Plenty of shear and a lower-magnitude jet streak over MS-AL will enhance that #tornado threat, and that same shear will help weaken the storm before landfall. Confidence will increase this evening as observations from the Hurricane Hunters are used in hot-starting model guidance. Forecast video still to come tomorrow morning.

A likely tornado, with a rapidly rotating wall cloud and funnel over halfway to the ground, during sunset near Alegrete, RS. I saw a tornado in Brazil! I hope to return soon

Wednesday morning, I will have a forecast video dissecting, in detail, the tropical cyclone threat in the gulf, alongside the tropical tornado threat associated. There are a LOT of "major hurricane imminent" garbage language and graphics going around right now. I will cut through all the crap and tell you what you actually need to know, and prove to you why. If you live anywhere from New Orleans to Tallahassee, you will want to tap in.

I fly over this area in about two hours
8 am EDT Oct 5 - A trough in the southwestern Gulf of America is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Gradual development is becoming more likely, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the middle or latter portion of the week. This system is expected to drift eastward over the next few days, before it turns northward. Visit hurricanes.gov for updates.

A couple tornadoes in Paraguay and likely a few imbedded tornadoes in a line in RS, but other than that southern Brazil dodged a bullet today! Good thing!
A deepening surface low, negatively tilted trough, and ample daytime heating will provide the ingredients needed for tornado formation across parts of NW RS, W SC/PR and Paraguay today. A South American tornado event is on the horizon. I will Be live on YouTube soon

Right back at this guy! He and his team are the GOAT’s, and it’s such a pleasure to work with them! On to more ground breaking adventures
Mikey has just concluded his final Brazil storm chase. Wanted to take a moment to say how proud I am of the guy. At 19 years old, he went to a different continent where he doesn't speak the local language to promote severe weather awareness and safety. He spoke at numerous schools to thousands of children, sparking a new generation of interest in meteorology in Brazil. His broadcasts and coverage has reached millions of South Americans. His footage has helped show the power of these storms, prompting locals to take action when severe weather is coming their way. His work with other chasers and meteorologists helped promote attention to both the science itself and the reason why chasing for the right reasons is key. He is an inspiration, plain and simple. @TheNaderMike, I wish you a safe trip home to Michigan. Congratulations on everything you've just accomplished!
