The end of an era: Mir George Ali Murad Khan Talpur II, the last ruler of the princely state of Khairpur, has died at 93. Crowned as a minor in 1947, his reign came to an end when the state was fully merged into Pakistan in 1955. Away from the palace, he lived out his remaining decades as a private figure, devoted to nature and wildlife preservation.
