And not just the emendations... the scribes turned their polytheistic religion into a monotheistic religion replacing names of other elohim and inserting Yahweh's name into verses such as
Genesis 24:2
But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I raise my hand to Yahweh El Elyon, Creator of heaven and earth, and vow
Where the oldest text DO NOT HAVE the name Yahweh in that verse.
One verse in the Old Testament that Jewish scribes edited (called an emendation) was 2 Samuel 20:1
1 And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.
Here they inserted the word tents (ohelim) to replace the word gods (elohim).
The original would have read...
1 And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his gods, O Israel.
Swap the e with the o and the l with h and poof, you have tents instead of gods. Just one instance of of scribes erasing their practice of Polytheism from the Old Testament.
