STATE DEPARTMENT TOLD CONGRESS TO GO TO HELL AND MOVED THE MONEY ANYWAY
Fifty two million dollars. Approved by law for Slovakia, North Macedonia, Tunisia, Iraq. A formal hold placed by Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Congressman Gregory Meeks
Trump's State Department read that hold and did it anyway
Quietly notified Congress Wednesday night they were defying it. Shipped the money to Panama, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia instead
Shaheen and Meeks literally wrote in advance this would be treated as a statutory violation. Trump's people did it in broad daylight like the warning was a dare
This is the power of the purse. Written into the Constitution so one man can't move federal money on a whim. Trump just proved the paper doesn't matter if nobody stops him
And here's the pattern forming around it. Same week, the Wall Street Journal reports twenty million dollars pulled out of DHS funding to pay for ads boosting Trump before the midterms. Another twenty five hundred thousand burned on top of that elsewhere
Congress appropriates. Trump redirects. Over and over, no consequence, no pushback that sticks
Four allied nations lose funding they were promised. Four friendlier-to-Trump governments get a windfall instead. Homeland security money becomes a campaign commercial
This isn't a budget disagreement. This is a president deciding Congress's vote is a suggestion he's allowed to ignore whenever it's inconvenient
They told him no. He did it anyway. And nothing happened
That's not governing. That's a man finding out there's no lock on the door
