China has just completed the construction of the world's largest superconducting magnet for thermonuclear devices.
Weighing 582 tons and measuring 21 meters in length, the magnet is capable of storing approximately 120 gigajoules of energy.
It will be used to confine plasma at temperatures exceeding 100 million degrees Celsius—a key technology for future thermonuclear reactors.
They call it “the artificial sun.”
