My cousin Billy used to do that sort of thing and he was damn good at it. Folks from all around McDowell Co. WNC used to bring their cars for him to service. He did good reliable work and didn't charge folks an arm and a leg to do it.🙂
Cars built in the 50's, 60's and 70's were way easier to work on than modern over engineered over computerized over priced crap being built these days.
I remember years ago, doing about the same thing on the same model. Also, my friend was trying to make a mold to do a fiberglass reproduction of this to save weight. Don't know if they ever finished it or not!
That was when cars were mechanical and you could open the hood and recognize everything you saw. Now you open the hood and can only recognize the radiator and the battery (maybe).
🤷🏻♂️❗️
I had a nephew see some old picture of us just hanging out shirtless and he said "that's so gay" I thought damn that seriously mentally ill. This generation is seriously fucked up!!!!
dad was so pissed about oil stains.. note to self.. don’t piss that vietnam vet flame thrower carrying marine off.. i learned that shit from my older brother. did you know he could fly??
Yep, and I was one of them once......a VERY long time ago. Way longer than I want to admit.......life goes so fast........those were the days......simple days.......better days..........
This was an every weekend project thank God I lived on a dead end street we would have piles of cars waiting for work these were the blessed days of being alive to US....
Initiation was getting the glorious job of holding a centerhead, stretch way over the front to delicately set it down......then your feet lose tracking and get both hands pinned and pinched, while they laugh. 6 Older Bros, many lessons.
The one thing I learned doing this. They always added 3 bolts that were never needed. Where did these bolts come from? Don’t know, don’t care. The car started and runs, that’s all that mattered. 4 rebuilds and always 3 bolts without a home.
