🌊MORE NEW MEXICO FLOODING🚨 Check out this incredible aerial footage from Saturday, as severe flash flooding caused historic devastation. The San Juan River surged to a historic crest of 21 feet, overflowing its banks and leaving multiple communities underwater. Lingering moisture and flood risks from tropical remnants are transitioning into a broader, active stormy pattern linked to developing El Niño conditions. Please stay safe and weather-aware! Turn around, and don't drown‼️🌧️

Un uomo di 83 anni stava per andare a dormire quando sua moglie, 81 anni, gli disse: «Caro, mi sembra che abbiamo lasciato accesa la luce del garage. Puoi andare a spegnerla?» Ho sparato a tutti e sei.»

SAN JUAN RIVER FLOODING: WATER REACHES MONTEZUMA CREEK BRIDGE New photos taken around 4 p.m. Sunday show floodwater reaching the Montezuma Creek Bridge in southeastern Utah. The San Juan River continues to rise as floodwaters move through the Four Corners region following severe flooding in Colorado and New Mexico. ⚠️ Catastrophic flooding is expected along the river. Evacuation orders remain in place for Bluff, Montezuma Creek and Aneth. Residents who have evacuated should not return home, and everyone should stay away from the river and flooded roadways. 📍 Montezuma Creek, Utah — Four Corners 📸 Photo: Lavina Blackhorse

Magnificent animals
It was a beautiful, crisp, fall morning at Garden of the Gods today. Lots of fog, too! No bighorn action, yet, but apparently the rut doesn’t peak until November.

💧 90 BILLION GALLONS OF WATER! That’s approximately how much water Lake Powell has gained with a 5-foot rise over the last few days! One major October storm can make a HUGE difference. All that rain and runoff has given Lake Powell a significant boost, adding roughly 275,000 acre-feet of water. But there’s another side to this story. The San Juan River is experiencing dangerous, potentially catastrophic flooding, with major impacts across southeastern Utah. That flooding is a serious threat to communities, roads and property. At the same time, all that water moving through the San Juan River will continue flowing downstream toward Lake Powell, adding even more water to the reservoir as the runoff continues. It’s a reminder of just how powerful these storms can be. We desperately need the water, but flooding like this comes with a devastating cost. Lake Powell is still well below full pool, and we have a long way to go to recover from years of water shortages. We’ll take every drop we can get, but first and foremost, we need everyone in the flooded areas to stay safe. 🙏

🚨 A LOOK AT FLOODING ACROSS THE FOUR CORNERS These photos, captured by the Navajo Police Department yesterday, show some of the flooding that impacted Shiprock and surrounding areas. Police officers, first responders, partner agencies and road crews have been working in tough conditions to help residents, protect animals and keep people safe. A big thank-you to everyone who stepped up to help their communities during this flooding. 🙏 ⚠️ Please continue to use caution around flooded roads. Never drive through floodwaters — conditions can be dangerous and change quickly. Stay safe, Four Corners. ❤️

More heavy rain is coming to New Mexico this weekend. Flash flooding is possible across northern, central, and eastern NM today, shifting east Sunday. More rain in southern Colorado could cause rivers to rise again as dangerous flooding continues along the San Juan River. #NMwx

BIG PICTURE FLOODING MOVING INTO UTAH This map shows the San Juan River and the path floodwaters are traveling through the Four Corners region. On Friday, Pagosa Springs, Colorado, experienced historic and devastating flooding. By Saturday, floodwaters had reached Shiprock, New Mexico. That water is now moving downstream along the San Juan River toward communities in southeastern Utah, including Bluff, Aneth and Montezuma Creek. ⚠️ Catastrophic flooding is expected in multiple communities on Navajo Nation land before the water reaches Lake Powell. Evacuations are in place for Bluff, Montezuma Creek and Aneth. Residents who have evacuated should not return home until officials say it is safe. While the incoming water could eventually benefit the Colorado River system and Lake Powell, the immediate threat to communities along the San Juan River is severe. Please follow emergency alerts, obey evacuation orders and stay away from the fast-moving river and flooded roads.
