The world is going to suffer for many more months through a massive energy crisis.
The oil price is back up to $110 USD, which is basically the same as it was at the peak of the US war against Iran in April and May.
This is going to have very negative consequences for the global economy. Inflation has already been rising in most countries, and will likely further increase.
The US war against Iran unleashed what the International Energy Agency called the biggest oil supply disruption crisis in history.
Now, Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries and depots are only making this worse.
Moreover, the US-backed Saudi war against Yemen has led Ansarallah to retaliate by hitting Saudi oil infrastructure, further exacerbating the energy crisis.
There are no signs of this getting better any time soon. Buckle up.

Vorsicht, da kommt was Größeres auf uns zu! Am Montag war ich ja bei der Expertenanhörung des Bundestages über die Reform des Rechts der Nachrichtendienste. Alarmierende Pläne: die deutschen Nachrichtendienste, v.a. der Inlands-Dienst BfV (Verfassungsschutz) und der Auslandsdienst BND sollen zu echten Geheimdiensten umgebaut, das verfassungskräftige Trennungsgebot – keine polizeilichen Kompetenzen für Nachrichtendienste! – soll geschleift werden. Wir bekommen einen Staat, der irgendwo bei Leuten einbricht und deren Sachen kaputtmacht, ohne daß die Urheberschaft verfolgt werden kann, oder: der Leuten u.U. gefälschte Beweise auf ihre Computer spielt... - was ein ordentlicher Staat prinzipiell nie machen würde. Die schönste Demokratie, die wir je hatten!🤔
Die Nachrichtendienste werden zur Geheimpolizei umgebaut. Der Verfassungsschutz soll Beweise fälschen dürfen. Ulrich Vosgerau ist auch als Experte in den Bundestag geladen, um die geplante Gesetzesänderung zu bewerten: Er sieht sie als verfassungswidrig an. Doch das Gesetz wird wohl verabschiedet werden.

Europe is fucked... Gas prices are surging.
Germany is Europe's largest gas storage hub and accounts for 25% of EU gas consumption.
Storage levels are at just 56%... The lowest ever for this time of year.
And look at what Europe has done to itself...
- Sanctioned Russia, its largest gas supplier.
- Qatar is renewing force majeure notices every month.
- Refrained from filling gas storage because prices were too high.
First, they switched to renewables while simultaneously reducing baseload power capacity, which is needed when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing.
Oh... And guess when the sun isn't shining and the wind isn't blowing?
During winter, when gas consumption is at its highest.
In other words, Europe is entering winter with dangerously low gas inventories, disrupted supply routes, and an energy system increasingly dependent on the weather.
And now gas prices are surging again...
The EU is on its path to economic suicide.

My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I am in the process of negotiating Peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and don’t want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table. Great progress is being made, and that includes current hostage negotiations! Signing that document at this time will do that, and I can sign it later, or any time that I want! Perhaps more importantly, Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way, and will, unless stupid people get in the way. Lastly, Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World. Zelenskyy doesn’t care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn’t want to end this war, and probably never did. He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead. I WANT THIS WAR END! European diesel prices are exploding, approaching $200/barrel...
Meanwhile, today's Eurostat report shows eurozone industrial production contracted another 1.1% yoy.
Germany's industrial production is already almost 10% below 2021 levels.
And now another massive energy shock is hitting Europe's already struggling industrial base.
Higher diesel prices mean higher transportation costs, higher production costs and ultimately higher inflation.
But companies can't simply pass on these costs indefinitely...
Margins get crushed, production gets cut, and more factories become uncompetitive.
In other words, Europe is facing another stagflationary shock.
The ECB can fight inflation by crushing demand via rate hikes even further worsening the deindustrialization trend and the sovereign debt crisis

🇷🇺 🇩🇪 Zum Nachmittag ein kleiner Ausflug in die russische Landwirtschaft. Ich möchte das Augenmerk auf den deutsch-russischen Landwirt und Geschäftsleiter der russischen Unternehmensgruppe @ekoniva, auf den sympathischen Stefan Dürr lenken.
🌟 Herr Dürr ist ein deutscher Pionier der ersten Stunde im neuen Russland. Seine Bekanntschaft mit Russland begann 1989 in einem landwirtschaftlichen Unternehmen bei Moskau, wo er als einer der ersten Studenten aus Westdeutschland ein Praktikum absolvierte. 1994 machte Stefan Dürr seine ersten Schritte als Geschäftsmann in Russland mit der Gründung des Unternehmens #EkoNiva. Er begann damit, Bio-Buchweizen und Hirse anzubauen und in europäische Länder zu exportieren. Von dort importierte er wiederum gutes Saatgut sowie landwirtschaftliche Maschinen nach Russland.
Im Jahr 2002 erwarb Stefan Dürr seine erste Farm in Russland.
🌟 Seitdem ist das von ihm gegründete Unternehmen zum größten Produzenten von Rohmilch in Russland und Europa geworden und belegt weltweit den dritten Platz. Die Hauptmilchabteilung der Gruppe vereint 42 Viehanlagen. Die Gesamtzahl des Viehbestandes beträgt aktuell 251.000 Rinder, davon sind mehr als 120.500 Futterkühe. Die Unternehmensgruppe beschäftigt etwa 18.000 Mitarbeiter.
