The Alonso stuff is a level of bizarre I’ve never seen in New York. The fans booed him out of town in 2024. The team collapsed in 2025. The radio hosts trashed him for 5 years. And now we’re treating him like he’s Mantle and was done wrong after he opted out. Weirdest stuff ever

It’s getting insane. It’s starting to feel like a crazed cult.

Nobody booed him out of town in 2024. When he hit that HR in Milwaukee every Mets fan was not only happy that he won us the series but also happy “for him” since he had such a tough year. He needed that big hit.

Its like mets fans have amnesia that he turned down the 7 year extension, held out after 24 and only came back cus no one wanted him and THEN opted out of the contract last offseason

It’s not weird if you actually admit the truth. All time franchise he leader Saves their 2024 season in playoffs 5 time all star Homegrown Like every player he opted out. Mets made him no offer in 26 after lowballing him. David stearns-your idol/is the issue

The same fans that were booing him are the same ones going after the fans. Very simple. This was as much as message to Stearns as it was appreciation or Pete. If you can’t get that you have a dinosaur brain.

The script of Pete’s time in Queens was written in pencil until the season saving home run against Milwaukee. Anything prior to that day is meaningless. Same goes Murphy and game 5 against LA.

PERFECTLY Stated...And worse was the way Pete behaved with the bat toss and the curtain call...Shoulda' emptied the benches as soon as Alvarez got in his face after he crossed home plate..Do you think Gary Carter woulda' just stood there after being dissed by Pete...?? NEVER...!!

It’s revisionist history. Leading up to the home run against Williams, EVERYBODY was running him out of town. Still an all time Met. Home grown, we love him and the love he’s received is deserved but it’s been over the top for me.

He was major ass in 2023 until he turned it around the last 2 months of 2024. Mets offered him a fair deal.

Mets fans are always looking to scapegoat current players and staff and lionize them once their gone. It’s pure delusion and it comes from a place of love but it really is sad. If more fans cheered the players on like that while they’re in uniform, we’d be a much better franchise

Booed him out of town? Radio trashed him? Do you live around NY? What the fuck are you talking about? I’m a Yankee fan and know how much fans and media loved Alonso. The only people who didn’t seem to were the front office.

The Barstool manufactured rage is a real thing. It's a disease. The Frank clones have run rampant. Thankfully Diaz doesn't have 50 saves or this Fall would have been a shit ton more insufferable.

He had a terrible 2024 but saved us in the post season. He carried the team in the beginning of 2025 and put up great numbers. He betted on himself after signing a lifeline contract. Mets made no formal offer at all. Unlike Diaz. Alonso had legitimate beef with Stearns.

Even cole opted out. Arod opted out. Its normal to opt out. Players want more money. Casino cohen and cheapskate stearns didnt offer it. Baltimore showed serious interest unlike mets. No one ever booed alonso out of town you must be thinking of lindor whos booed every home game

Toxic and Moronic. Precisely why he didn’t want to be in NY. Now we can watch the fans destroy the new group and drive away anyone else that may be thinking of coming here. Kiss Skubal goodbye.

This is exactly right! I’ve never seen anything like it either. It’s almost like the relationships that are created during traumatic events. When he hit the HR in Milwaukee a portion of the fan base became rabid for him and still are to this day.

1. I and many other Mets fans never booed him 2. That collapse was on the starting pitching, not on Alonso 3. The radio hosts trashing Alonso are a bunch of haters, most of whom are Yankees fans 4. Alonso WAS done wrong! They overpay for Lindor & Soto & then try to low-ball Pete!

A lot of people thought we'd be in the playoffs right now and rightfully so. I don't blame them. I don't think it would have been as dramatic if they were still in the race
