From farm fields to the future of food production, I enjoyed learning more about Upside Robotics' agricultural technology and its potential to support Canadian farmers, as innovation continues to grow in our fields. Their robot "spoon-feeds" nutrients to corn plants 24/7, delivering smaller, targeted applications that can reduce nitrogen use while improving yields and return on investment. It was great to hear more from Bender Brook Farms and Upside Robotics about the results they're seeing and the potential for this community's innovation as it grows and shapes Canadian agriculture.

It was great to visit True North Tropic Farms with Minister Rechie Valdez to learn more about their mission to bring fresh, flavourful food to our communities. Supporting small local farms means we are supporting our neighbours, our local economy and the future of agriculture. Yesterday, I joined the TELUS team in a Kitchener neighbourhood to see firsthand how fibre-optic cable is being installed directly to local homes. This significant private-sector investment will expand access to fast, reliable Internet infrastructure, supporting residents, businesses and Kitchener's growing digital economy. Thank you to the crew for taking us behind the scenes and explaining the work happening beneath our feet.

Today, I was proud to announce $156,000 in federal funding for J.M. Drama Alumni, on behalf of the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages. This investment will help J.M. Drama Alumni continue bringing people together through the arts and enriching our local cultural community. Congratulations to the J.M. Drama Alumni team, and thank you for helping make Kitchener-Conestoga and the Waterloo Region a vibrant place to live, create, and connect!

Last night was the kick-off for the Kitchener Blues Fest! Festivals like this mean so much to me as an artist myself, knowing all of the hard work that goes into every aspect of these performances. What an awesome opportunity for these artists to step on stage and build a special connection with the audience that we will all remember. Don't worry if you missed last nights performances... there are more to come all weekend with over 35 amazing artists. Whether you're a first time listener, or a life-long fan, I hope you enjoy these performances and make lasting memories with friends and family.

The Ontario Summer Games may have come to an end, but Ewan's work has not. Meeting this inspirational young man has left me with a feeling of hope and empowerment. Seeing how far he has come at such a young age is truly incredible. We wish you luck on your journey Ewan, and I am honoured to have met such a young community champion.

It was an honour to join the Minister of Artificial Intelligence, The Honourable Evan Solomon, and The Honourable Bardish Chagger at XL Tools in Kitchener. We announced $40.5 million in FedDev Ontario support funding that will help support 23 organizations across the Waterloo Region. This investment will help strengthen local industries, drive innovation, and create new opportunities and growth in Kitchener-Conestoga.

As Parliamentary Secretary for Interprovincial Trade, I met with Wine Growers Canada and discussed priorities that will help the sector grow and compete.   We focused on addressing interprovincial barriers and making it easier for Canadians to access and enjoy great wines from across our country.   A key step is advancing harmonized direct-to-consumer shipping, so wineries can reach more Canadians and people can enjoy Canadian wines nationwide.

Honoured to address the Armenian Genocide Commemoration in Cambridge. I’m deeply grateful to the Armenian National Committee of Southwestern Ontario and community leaders for their leadership, and for standing together in remembrance, solidarity, and the pursuit of truth and justice.

Starting April 20th, Canada’s new government will suspend the full amount of tax on gasoline and diesel. Cutting the tax will reduce fuel costs for Canadians and business, including food, agriculture, housing, and delivery sectors.

Canada is investing in the next generation of agricultural workers. Our federal government has announced up to $27 million for the Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) over the next two years. Starting in 2026–27, this program will feature a more streamlined application process to better support youth seeking jobs in agriculture. I was honoured to join the African Family Revival Organization (AFRO) in Kitchener for a meaningful Black History Month celebration. Black Canadians have shaped our country’s cultural landscape in countless ways, especially through music, which has a powerful way of bringing people together. Last night in Kitchener, I had the privilege of joining our community for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's annual Interfaith and Multicultural “Flavours of Iftar” dinner. As Ramadan continues, it was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the power of Iftar. There is something special about breaking bread together. A shared meal has a way of opening hearts, building understanding, and reminding us of what we have in common. Ramadan Mubarak to all who are observing, and thank you to the organizers and volunteers who made this wonderful evening possible.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is making a real impact for thousands of people right here in Kitchener-Conestoga. Across the country, it's helping more than 6 million people save an average of $800 per year on the oral health services they need. We'll keep helping even more Canadians get the care they need.

Today, communities in Kitchener-Conestoga and around the world will celebrate Lunar New Year. During this time, also known as the Spring Festival, families and friends will come together to celebrate and participate in various festivities, including family meals, cultural performances, fireworks, and parades. Last year, I was graciously invited by the Waterloo Region Chinese Canadian Association to join them for their annual event. To celebrate, I surprised them by learning and performing a song in Cantonese - an experience I will never forget!

This week, I’m participating in one of Canada’s largest trade missions to date. The mission focuses on key sectors that matter back home in Kitchener–Conestoga, including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and technology. It's going to support Canadian businesses and workers by building new partnerships and expanding into new markets, helping protect existing jobs and create new opportunities for our community & across Canada.

The global auto sector is changing fast. Canada is taking action with a made‑in‑Canada auto strategy aimed at supporting workers, attracting investment, and keeping vehicle design and manufacturing here at home. Key measures include: ✅ A new five‑year EV affordability program that will offer up to $5,000 toward the purchase or lease of a new electric or fuel‑cell vehicle, or up to $2,500 for a plug‑in hybrid. ✅ Incentives to reward companies that manufacture and invest in Canada, while protecting domestic producers from unfair trade pressures. ✅ Supports to protect Canadian auto workers and businesses from immediate pressures while helping them bridge them to the future. These measures will have significant impact here in Waterloo Region, where automotive and advanced manufacturing play a major role in the local economy. Nurses are the backbone of Canada’s health care system. Thank you to the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions for visiting my Ottawa office to discuss how we can work together to address the ongoing nursing workforce crisis and better support those who care for us & our loved ones every day.

It was great to spend time this past Sunday with the seniors at Trinity Lutheran Church for their Adult Education session after the morning service. I appreciated hearing their perspectives on Canada–U.S. relations and the importance of Canadians standing together in the face of increasing global uncertainty.
