The Prime Minister can’t seem to get his story straight about the “associate membership,” “unique alliance,” or whatever else he is negotiating with the EU.
Conservatives are clear: we support the decades-old free trade & NATO defence alliance with Europe.

I’m sure I remember several commentators dismissing this past weekend’s WSJ report as inaccurate, then proceeded to scold anyone for reacting to it.
Given the denials issued by the PMO clean-up crew and PM Carney himself, Ms. von der Leyen surely intended to describe a "unique alliance" with Canada and not suggest “associate membership” in the EU.
