Our latest on understanding GIP agonism v antagonism. Shout out to @TimoMueller_IDO since lots of this work replicated work from his group. We tried to take it a little farther. Genetic loss of GIP signaling in CNS increases weight loss to GLP-1 agonists. 💪

British #scientist #JohnRogerSpeakman, a leading figure in #energybalance research at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was honored with the prestigious technological cooperation award at the 2023 Guangdong Science and Technology Awards in Guangzhou on Oct. 17.
Expressing his gratitude for the recognition, Speakman told Shenzhen Daily on Monday, “These things can only be accomplished by the work of a team producing top-level research over many years. I am therefore very proud of my group and their hard work which led to this.”
With a career spanning over four decades, Speakman has made substantial contributions to the field of energy balance and fat storage. His commitment to fostering international collaboration has played a pivotal role in advancing research and breaking down barriers within the scientific community.
Speakman won the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2021 and the first Guangdong Friendship Award in March 2023.
