One year ago, my life took a horrible turn. While attending a conference in Spain, I was hit by #GuillainBarreSyndrome. I just drafted some of my story, hoping for cathartic release during this sad anniversary. I share it in case it can help someone: rb.gy/dgt6og

Very proud of @wut_a_hoot for the great work put into this study 🥳. It raises some really fascinating questions that we hope will stimulate more research into how social & physiological traits interact to determine growth rate in fish! #fishsci

Its long been assumed that a reduction in the SDA will provide more ‘free’ energy for allocation to animal growth. In our JEB commentary, we are proposing the exact opposite: that a larger SDA might actually be indicative of better growth performance journals.biologists.com/jeb/…

Two more papers by Dixson and Munday get Editorial Expressions of Concern for raw data issues. These papers have previously been flagged as having unrealistic variance for fish behaviour. link.springer.com/article/10… link.springer.com/article/10…

Huge undertaking by @FishSciSkeeles to raise fish for a year with or without supplemental oxygen to see whether it enhanced growth rates & supported the gill-oxygen limitation hypothesis. It didn’t! BUT, a cool finding RE oxygen extending the reproductive window!
For those still on here, I'm super stoked to see this one out there! 🐟🔥🤏 @Timothy_D_Clark @ScheuffeleHanna @DeakinSEBE @deakinresearch Supplemental oxygen does not improve growth but can enhance reproductive capacity of fish royalsocietypublishing.org/d… A thread below 🧵1/n

Incredibly proud of @FishSciSkeeles for submitting his awesome PhD thesis! Lots of hurdles along the way, including arriving in Oz immediately before ~18 months of COVID lockdowns, but he totally smashed it! 🙌🏼💪🏽
Got the PhD submitted today 🐟🙏 Below are photos at day 1 of the journey and today, the final shebang. Yes yes, you’d hope there’s some real strong correlation between hair growth and knowledge gain here 😂
