My cat has gone for a wander, I was calling out for him when I received a text message and for a brief moment I genuinely expected it to be him messaging me

What I’d like to know is: which question(s) did Ade Edmondson write?!
Only Connect is on tonight at 8pm! But Rod Liddle, and others who find the intros difficult, would be advised to tune in at 8.02, by which time I'll have finished banging on about Helen who lives in The Matrix and has written us an anxious letter. #OnlyConnect, 8.02pm @BBCTwo

Oh you want to change plans? Do something completely different than the logistics I’ve envisioned & as such cemented in my head? Sure that’s fine. I can be normal about that. Please excuse me for 10 minutes. If you hear screaming it is unrelated

I remember many years ago when working in Slovenia, a colleague told me that the film “Everyone Says ‘I Love You’” had been really unsuccessful there because the translation of the title sounded ridiculous. No-one ever really says “ljubim te”!

I'd rather be dead than read the words "I love you" in my first language. Like, the levels of CRINGE... 😭☠

the real reason is because the romantic and the kinky stuff feels a lot more mortifying to read in our native languages
one of the reasons non native english speakers prefer reading in english is because english is objectively a lot easier than our native languages & is a lot more accessible in terms of resources because it is treated as a global language. hope this helps.

We don't talk about immigrants enough. We don't talk about how they pay more taxes. How they claim less benefits. How they do the jobs that many 'natives' won't. Yeah, we need more talk like this.

I had a little cry watching the news tonight. Thousands of people marching through their towns in solidarity all over the country against the people who would seek to divide us. As someone who arrived in the UK as a child refugee it means everything to see this allyship.

THIS IS HUGE! After hearing about our response to the protests in Liverpool, one of the people who attended the "save our children" rally reached out to me and asked if I would join him for a coffee. I obliged, of course. He reassured me that he and his people were there out of genuine concern, and not for violence and hate As I've been saying all along, I knew there were people on "the other side" who were sincere and genuine. After the coffee, he invited me for a discussion with several other people who are seen as grass-roots influencers here in Liverpool. We had a 90-minute discussion about the Southport tragedy, the riots, immigration, racism, the psychology of hate, and media narratives. By the end of the discussion, we didn't agree on absolutely everything... which is fine. But we did reach a consensus that it feels like we're being pitted against each other by forces out there. Our dialogue is now continuing, and I have a feeling there are great things to come. [SHARE] @tonymoranpt @markscano @mindthatmusicofficial @abdullah_ahmed_Ivp_ @richard.grannon

I find it amazing that the tories have destroyed everyones standard of living - with brexit that has cost the country upwards of 140 billion, at least another 100 billion in tax payers money handed over to their funders, destruction of public services and in case of Southport horror - there will no doubt be blame at huge gaps in mental health youth services etc to say nothing of the 400,000 plus excess deaths caused by their austerity and inept handling of Covid. Homelessness, foodbanks, spiralling inflation . Yet the knuckle draggers start rioting now in some incohereny nihilistic rage blaming muslims and Labour for the fact liars conned them to voting themselves poorer and more powerless. The mind boggles
