In August 1929—19 years before Israel was founded—Arab rioters descended on Hebron’s ancient Jewish community.
67 Jews were raped and murdered. Homes and synagogues were attacked and looted. A centuries-old Jewish community was devastated.
There was no State of Israel.
No post-1967 occupation.
No Gaza blockade.
Yet Jews were still being slaughtered.
So when people pretend the hatred began with Israel’s creation, remember Hebron.
1929: Hebron.
2023: October 7.
Different generations. Different circumstances. But antisemitic hatred did not begin in 1948—and history cannot be rewritten to pretend that it did.
