I was reading about the making of SPACEBALLS and Bill Pullman talked about the time John Candy left set early because he had tickets to a Dodgers game, teased everyone they would be working late while he was off having fun. An hour or so after he left, John Candy had Dodger hot dogs delivered to the cast and crew on set because he didn't want anyone to feel left out.

I'll always defend Dan Aykroyd's NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. It knows exactly what movie it wants to be; Twilight Zone meets Tales from the Crypt for 93 minutes with a big studio behind it. A fantastic blank check go-for-broke concept that Aykroyd had the chance to make only once at only that period of time, and I'm so glad it exists.

Rodney Dangerfield in CADDYSHACK might be the greatest comedic performance of all time. I don't think much of anything comes close in terms of pure laugh comedy.

I've scientifically marked the downfall of theatrical comedies and my results are clear - it began with THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN, and the chest waxing scene. From that point on, ad libbing shout the punchline comedies became all the rage instead of story and smart dialogue.

I think SUPERBAD is perfect. ROLE MODELS is perfect. There's certainly good/bad overlaps, however the point is this style of comedy took over almost immediately from then on but not every director/producer knew how to pull it off like the titles mentioned - the majority became lazy, and audiences stop showing up for lazy.

Orson Welles had such disdain for doing the voice of Unicron for TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE, he spoke about how crappy it was to a reporter during voiceover sessions and his final words on the project are amazing.
“You know what I did this morning? I played the voice of a toy. Some terrible robot toys from Japan that change from one thing to another. The Japanese have funded a full-length animated cartoon about the doings of these toys, which is all bad outer-space stuff. I play a planet. I menace somebody called Something-or-other. I was reading about the behind the scenes of HUDSON HAWK and why the movie became such a disaster, and actor Richard E. Grant said its partly because Bruce Willis had a "harmonica coach" in his entourage and would take breaks to practice, which I find so funny

Carrot Top had one of the funniest stories about Gallagher, where Gallagher was so annoyed CT was doing prop comedy, he came to see CT’s show five nights in a row, and didn’t laugh once.
Afterwards, Gallagher went backstage and told CT he had some notes on how to make his act better. CT said “Okay, what should I change?” Gallagher said, “Everything.”

Richard Simmons guest starring on WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen on tv. Even the show's editor had to trim out full minutes of the audience laughing so they could get the episode's runtime down to fit in its scheduled slot. Peak television right here.
