On the 25th anniversary of 9/11 I remember my friend Neil Levin who was the Executive Director of the Towers. He died trying to get others to safety. Each time I am in NYC I visit his plaque in Central Park. Never Forget.

I was in charge of getting a commencement speaker for my college graduation. It was Memorial Day weekend and tough to find someone. Then I learned that Senator Riegle’s sister was in our class and with her help he was our speaker that I got to introduce. Sorry to read of his passing. Each time I go to Central Park I look for the stone dedicated to my friend Neil Levin who died on 9/11 trying to help people out of the WTC. There is construction at the spot and at first I didn’t see Neil’s stone. It’s dirty but I found it right beside the construction gate.

Strong memories tonight of elementary school watching first human space landings. At 27 I was aide to Ohio Sen. Robert Taft Jr and I got to work with the other Ohio Senator John Glenn. Wish the iPhone had been invented so I could have picture with Senator/astronaut Glenn.

April 4 and the first loggerhead sea turtle nest spotted at Juno Beach and up to 52 leatherbacks. Over 6 months to go in the nesting season.

Weekend note: Juno Beach sea turtle nesting season nearly a month in and nest count is at 38. By November the count should approach 20,000.

Weekend post: As sea turtle nesting season begins at Juno Beach the first count post is up. Each year there are nearly 20,000 turtles that lay their eggs on the Juno beach.

Ian and I went looking for gopher tortoises at Frenchman’s Forest, bingo found a big one coming out of his burrow.

This weekend we went to the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. Fun concert and our seats right behind the base section are so close we can see the notes on the sheet music.

I think it’s great the way South Beach has maintained its art deco architecture style.

On President’s Day I think of this picture of a Lincoln statue my great grandparents gave to the Louisville library and during a record flood the water reached the statue to create Lincoln walking on water.
