I spoke one-on-one with Gausman, Varsho, and Hoffman before the trio was dealt at the trade deadline.
Many just think of these guys as entertainers who make millions to play a sport but they’re also humans with real emotions and families. thescore.com/mlb/news/356975…

Interesting take here by Vlad. I don’t think his production prior to signing that extension was worth what he got. The Jays are paying for what should be his prime years (27-33). Gotta feel some obligation to earn what you’re receiving.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on his $500 million contract with the #BlueJays and his poor performance this season:
“The contract I got was based on what I did, not necessarily for what I’m going to do. I understand why the fans believe it’s the other way around. Sometimes I think that way too, like “oh they give me this money and I’m not doing enough”, but you know I try my best and I’m working hard.
The fans I know how they are, when you are doing great they are 100% behind you but when you are not at your best not everybody is behind you, almost nobody supports you. Those are my real fans, the ones that are supporting me all the time.”

These are Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s numbers this year in wins vs. losses.
Anyone who tells you his performance isn’t the main reason the Blue Jays are likely to miss the postseason is ignoring the obvious.

Done deal: The LA Clippers and Raptors have both agreed to complete the trade sending Kawhi Leonard to Toronto for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two unprotected first-round picks, one first-round pick swap and two second-rounders, per ESPN sources. The sides will now schedule a trade call.

BREAKING: The NBA has ruled on the Los Angeles Clippers in for salary cap circumvention investigations on Kawhi Leonard after yearlong probe -- stripping the franchise of 5 first-round picks, issuing a $30 million fine to owner Steve Ballmer and suspensions for Ballmer, Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker, sources tell ESPN.
Kawhi Leonard will have to pay $700,000 in restitution for improper benefits by the Clippers for his uncle and former business rep, Dennis Robertson. No contract void or suspension for Leonard. And Robertson -- who was fired by Leonard in June -- is being banned by the NBA from all business dealings.

I don’t understand Marte’s endgame. He has a full NTC and five years left on his deal with a team that’s been extremely forgiving. If this was the NFL he would be cut already. Nobody should be above the organization like this.
Ketel Marte’s hat choice after the game is something.
He said he didn’t expect the boos from the home crowd, and also that he didn’t understand the question before the game about delivering a message to fans.

Robert goes to the team the Jays are directly fighting for a playoff spot. We shall see if it makes a difference in a tight wild-card race but at least Baltimore is showing a sense of urgency.
The Orioles were just behind the #BlueJays in the claim queue for Robert Jr., meaning Toronto did not end up submitting a claim.

Yes, but I also feel this way any time I see any clip of the Savannah Bananas.

Some Kawhi stuff, including steady optimism Leonard will be with Raptors coming training camp, and why one the outcomes of the investigation likely can't be a suspension:
What exactly the NBA is going to do to resolve the entire Kawhi Clippers-Leonard situation remains up in the air. But the most likely scenario has the 2019 Finals MVP in a Raptors uniform on opening night. (@michaelgrange)
