Trading Narratives/ Betas — the newbie guide. Every trader has their unique style of trading,the aim is to make money or be profitable. Some trade news, volume or hype, new pairs, presales, community based trading (referred to as CTOs), Onchain trading, gambles , Low cap sniping and narrative trading. WHAT IS NARRATIVE TRADING?. A narrative is simply a story. It is a message that shapes how people see an event, a person, a trend , or a situation . Narrative trading is trading based off trends. Narratives in memes is the storyline that gives the coin hype , attention and meaning. Your due diligence as a trader is to be able to distinguish a strong narrative from a weak one. Strong narratives equal to more hype, more people talking, more buyers and price movement. When you are asked “What is this token narrative ? ” they are asking ,what is the story behind it, but when they ask you “what is the current narrative?” they are asking, what is the story/trend people are interested in at the moment. A strong narrative in real-life situations is a big storyline with emotional pull, mass interest , Virality and influence. People follow it because everyone is talking about it. In memes, a strong narrative reflects in price action, showing people's interest. Anything that moves people , moves market, trends, and prices. That is what makes trading narratives the easiest. It is easier to make money from what everyone is willing or interested to buy. BETA PLAYS. A strong narrative is formed by people's interest which is reflected in the chart,the price action. When these narratives kick off, we call them RUNNERS. A runner starts a meta or a trend to be followed, and that is how BETA PLAYS are formed. Beta plays serve as a cope mechanism. To be more explicit they are second movers or second chances to runners because most people missed out on the runner, sold too early etc. They are formed from the hype of the main runner and you must understand they are likely not to do better than the runners, so set realistic exit plans. A beta is a relative meme which shares direct or indirect names,synonyms and opposites or spin offs. To get into correct betas,you must understand the story behind the runner.
