If you're a high school kid and someone says you can't run sub-50 (boys) or sub-60 (girls) in the 400 without a bunch of endurance and over-distance work, they're lying to you (or don't know any better). You can, and you never have to sprint more than 200 meters in practice.

Feeling myself a little, because I jumped onto a 40 inch box yesterday at Speed Club with the kids. What an athlete. An unbelievable physical specimen.

Offseason sprinting doesn't have to be complicated. Pick some workouts. Cycle through. 3x 40 Y Dash 5x 30 M Hills 3x 10 M Fly 5x Wickets Speed-Power Circuit Pair with plyometrics each day. Done in an hour or less. Stack high quality outputs and watch the results pile up.

Tested this out yesterday. Thread on my profile.
Quick question for anyone who has switched from Freelap to OVR: how are you setting up your 40 yard dash so your times are comparable to your historical Freelap data? Thanks!

I tested @freelap and @OVRPerformance simultaneously for 40 yard dash yesterday in order to see how the two times compared. I wanted to know if the new system (OVR) would yield comparable times to Freelap so my compiled year-over-year data remained relevant. 🧵

The athlete ran three attempts. The results are below, presented as the Averaged Freelap Time / OVR Time Rounded to the Tenth of a Second. Rep 1: 4.935 / 4.93 Rep 2: 4.875 / 4.87 Rep 3: 4.835 / 4.86

So, great news! The times are awfully darn close to one another -- close enough that, for my purposes, any new data collected with OVR is still meaningfully comparable to old data collected with Freelap. I'll run the same test with 10 M fly at a later time.

Speed Club, our offseason sprint training program, starts today. Tuesdays and Thursdays for an hour after school. One of the biggest contributors to the success of our sprint/jump/hurdle program has been the consistent, high-output work our athletes do. I'm ready!

Wait....What??!!!! Attention youth coaches - listen up!!! (Not trying to point fingers in my area but🤔🤔)
If you don’t rest to full recovery between sprints… You’re not training speed. You’re doing conditioning. Save this thread & make sure you show every coach & athlete you know who is turning speed into conditioning Let’s make fast athletes. Not slow ones

Hurdles changed my life. And that's not original, cause they've changed so many other people's lives for the better too. Like this week's guest on the Gill Connections Podcast. @TrackCoachTG's life changed because of hurdles. Can you relate? LINK: pod.fo/e/5508b5

Thanks for having me on the podcast! Enjoyed our conversation!
Hurdles! Hurdles! Hurdles! Sat down with @TrackCoachTG to learn his journey in this great profession. It was molded by the hurdles. You KNOW I LOVED that! pod.fo/e/5508b5

Our sprint training has been very heavily influenced by @pntrack and #feedthecats. We've had at least one sprint relay team on the podium at state finals every year since 2022. 2022 - 4x100 2023 - 4x100 2024 - 4x100 and 4x200 2025 - 4x200 2026 - 4x200 and 4x400 Not too bad!
