$SPY’s noon rip was a gamma-amplified breakout. SPY compressed around 764 into noon. At 12:15 ET, a sharp buy impulse hit: it moved 764.6 → 768.0 in about three minutes as volume surged. The options setup mattered: Net GEX was negative before and during the move (about -$4B), so dealer hedging helped amplified upside once price started moving. 765 was the reclaim/trigger area 770 was the nearby call wall. SPY topped at 768.9, just below it. As gamma flattened and then turned positive near 12:45, the move lost momentum and stalled.
