Most traders don’t fail because they can’t find a statistically sound strategy.
They fail because they can’t sit with uncertainty long enough to let the strategy play out.
That’s a big part of what I talked about in this radio interview.
Link in bio if you want to watch the full thing.
Don't be a naysayer.
Never tell anyone that their dreams are impossible or that they can’t do something.
Don’t have a negative impact on their mind.
Hope is a beautiful thing.
You never know where their dreams can lead them.
There’s a brutal difference between a natural loss and a loss that you took because you couldn’t get out of your own way.
One is business.
The other is leakage.
The painful part isn’t losing money.
Losses are part of trading.
The painful part is losing money you never needed to lose...
Then spending days/weeks/months rebuilding what your own behavior destroyed.
Profitable trading is much more than learning a couple of chart patterns.
It requires a complete mental shift.
And this transformation doesn't typically happen overnight.
It happens progressively and is often preceded by pain, fear, and confusion.
“You don't need emotional discipline. You just need clean rules you trust.”
By that logic:
“You don’t need a good pilot. You just need a reliable plane and a flight plan.”
The rules matter... absolutely.
But the person executing those rules under pressure and uncertainty matters just as much.
If I knew my emotional patterns were costing me serious money, I’d become obsessed with solving them.
Not casually interested.
Not watching another random YouTube video.
Obsessed!
Because a compounding problem like that deserves a serious response.
Study People.
Virtually every job in the world involves dealing with people in some way or another.
80 percent of success is based on your ability to read, understand, communicate with, and anticipate people.
So... study People.
"The people who want to be recognized as the greatest traders are probably not the greatest traders. Egos get in the way of the process. In my opinion, you never want to be the largest player in the pit."
~ Blair Hull
You can spend months increasing your edge by 5%.
Then destroy the benefit with one emotional session.
Fix the economics of your trading in the right order.
"The traders who can make money consistently on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis approach trading from the perspective of a mental discipline."
~ Mark Douglas
Successful people don’t wait until they’ve “made it” to invest in themselves.
They invest in themselves because they’re serious about making it.
Trading is no different.
Keep a notepad and pen on your nightstand.
Million-dollar ideas, life-changing insights, answers to your struggles and preoccupations...
They all like to strike in the middle of the night.
That's been my experience anyway.
Some traders secretly love the identity of being 'almost successful.'
They protect it.
They avoid anything radical that would challenge it.
That's what fear of uncertainty does to us...
If you aspire to trade for a living but refuse to seriously develop the person who must produce those results…
That’s a disconnect that you must address.
Maybe it's ego...
Maybe you haven't truly investigated what it takes to succeed...
But it needs addressing.
