Under I-638, a girl's provider must verify her sex based on her "reproductive anatomy, genetic makeup, or normal endogenously produced testosterone levels."
The attorney general's office says girls "would thus have to undergo some type of medical evaluation of their sex."

Supporters of Washington's I-638 tell voters it will "protect fairness in girls' sports."
What it actually does is put a costly, invasive medical check in front of every family whose daughter wants to play on a girls' school team. Boys' teams have no such requirement.
