In 2019, the World Health Organisation officially removed gender incongruence from its classification of mental disorders. Uganda's health system did not get the memo. Trans and gender diverse people continue to be pathologised, misdiagnosed, and turned away from care that should be theirs by right, because the framework in use is decades out of date and the consequences are being paid by real people, every single day.
