This is why I don’t just say “every QB would fail behind that OL” like many do.
OL play is a problem, but there are many times where John Mateer has had time to complete it downfield and he just holds on to the ball too long.
Look at this.
How is this a sack?
Mateer gets sacked here on 2nd and 6. Down 1, with a minute and a half to go. The 40 yard line is the first down. The next play is the pick six on 3rd and long.
