India is hell for Muslims

It’s not racist to want to go to Costco and hear only English.

According to a recent survey, India leads with 60% of reported racism against white people, followed by Arabs and Black people at 40%.

HOW CAN SUCH A BRUTAL AND BARBARIC ACT EVER BE TOLERATED!? Uttar Pradesh, northern India. On the evening of October 31, a young Dalit girl left her home to use the toilet. According to her family, she was gang raped. When she resisted, her attackers brutally beat her, strangled her, and abandoned her in a field, leaving her to die. The next morning, her family found her barely alive. There is absolutely NO excuse for such monstrous cruelty! A victim’s human rights and dignity must NEVER depend on caste or social status. This horrific crime demands a thorough investigation, and those responsible must face the full force of the law! Across our Commonwealth, Hindu, Jain, and Sikh Pennsylvanians are celebrating Diwali, Tihar, and Bandi Chhor Divas — symbolizing the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. This celebration is a time of unity, compassion, and acceptance, many of the same values William Penn founded our Commonwealth on 344 years ago, and values that continue to guide us today.  Lori and I wish everyone taking part a joyous Festival of Lights.

The world is celebrating Diwali by bursting crackers. My dog is spending the night hiding under the bed, trembling in fear. Meanwhile, people with asthma are breathing polluted air, elderly people and babies are struggling with the noise, heart patients may experience distress, and birds and stray animals have nowhere to escape. At what point did our idea of celebration become so insensitive to the people and living beings around us? Your celebration shouldn’t have to come at the cost of someone else’s health, peace or well-being. And before anyone makes this about religion or communalism, I celebrate Diwali too. This isn’t about religion. It’s about basic civic sense and empathy.
