Want a wild rabbit hole?
Check out the Curt Schilling Red Sox story.
19 October 2004
“The Curt Schilling Bloody Sock Game remains one of baseball’s most replayed, debated, and mythologized postseason moments because it sits at the intersection of performance, medicine, media spectacle, and rivalry.”
World (domination) Series, 86 (yeah, you read that right) years in the making, ending the Curse of the Bambino. Definition of Bambino below. 😔
Red Sox vs YANKEES 🤯
“The bloody sock became legendary because it combined four powerful ingredients:
✔️First, there was a hated rival.
✔️Second, there were enormous stakes.
✔️Third, there was an unmistakable image.
A bloodstain on a white sock communicates pain instantly, even to casual viewers…
✔️Fourth, there was payoff.”
World dominance.
“The controversy: was the blood natural, staged, or enhanced?”
And…
“How MEDIA COVERAGE shaped memory”.
“…a compelling visual can harden into accepted history faster than careful reporting can catch up.”
It’s False Flag Season.
Pray. 🙏🏻✝️

The shot heard ‘round the world.
75 years ago today:
New York City, October 3, 1951
NY Giants v Brooklyn Dodgers
“…the game was broadcast nationally on the radio and to "hundreds of thousands of American military personnel stationed 'round the world' who heard 'the shot' on Armed Forces Radio.
The phrase "shot heard round the world" is from the 1837 poem "Concord Hymn" by Ralph Waldo Emerson, about the first clash of the American Revolutionary War…”.
The battles of Lexington and Concord which sparked the Revolutionary War.
The poem exalts a general spirit of revolution and freedom.
“…the very same day that Thomson hit his home run, the Soviet Union set off an atomic bomb test…”
The poem’s first stanza was featured on a 1925 US 5-cent stamp:
That 5:5 tho…
Bobby Thomson’s pennant-winning three-run home run for the Giants was one of the most famous moments in Baseball history, marked by allegations of “signal stealing”.
Shot Heard 'Round the World turns 75 - the media chronicling it helped etch it into baseball lore forever trib.al/p5Hm333

A novel by Don DeLillo titled Underworld published on 3 October 1997 (29 years ago today) uses the playoff game as a feature in the novel.
The search for the ball.
The book includes J. Edgar Hoover, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the atomic bomb test, the Fresh Kills Landfill, a scientist in the nuclear weapons program in New Mexico, and a nuclear explosion in Kazakhstan.
The cover design for the American edition features a photograph of the World Trade Center towers taken by André Kertész.
It headlines about both the baseball game and the Soviet nuclear test that figure in the plot. It examines themes of nuclear proliferation, waste, and the contribution of individual lives to the course of history.

DeLillo was awarded the 1999 Jerusalem Prize, the 2010 PEN/Saul Bellow Award for Achievement in American Fiction, and the 2013 Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction.
DeLillo was already a well-regarded cult writer in 1985, when the publication of White Noise brought him widespread recognition and the National Book Award for fiction.
He followed this in 1988 with Libra, a novel about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
DeLillo won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Mao II, about terrorism and the media's scrutiny of writers' private lives, and the William Dean Howells Medal for Underworld, a historical novel that ranges in time from the dawn of the Cold War to the birth of the Internet.
Wild stuff:
In The Matrix Resurrections, the character Thomas Anderson is in a bathroom stall reading the DeLillo quote: "It is so much simpler to bury reality than it is to dispose of dreams," from Americana.
The narration in Johan Grimonprez's 1997 film Dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y, which presents a history of mainstream television coverage of airplane hijackings, consists of passages from Mao II and White Noise.
And would you believe it—-
He wrote a screenplay about the 1986 Red Sox World Series 🤯 called GAME 6.
“Game 6 (2005), the story of a playwright (played by Michael Keaton) and his obsession with the Boston Red Sox and the 1986 World Series, was written in the early 1990s, but wasn't produced until 2005, ironically one year after the Red Sox won their first World Series title in 86 years. To date, it is DeLillo's only work for film.
The Curse of the Bambino.
