Cause the quality and care put into products, cars, and art made a sharp decline after the recession and haven't gotten better since then. Nostalgia is a pain killer for us cause we know just how good things could be but we know that they probably won't be that good again.
I’m not a millennial, but I’ve always found this interesting.
A lot of millennials seem unusually attached to childhood nostalgia well into adulthood. Not just remembering it fondly, but actively revisiting it, recreating it, and sometimes even trying to experience things they feel they missed growing up.
From cartoons and video games to fandoms, toys, collectibles, and childhood franchises, nostalgia seems to play a much bigger role in millennial culture than it does for Gen Z or older generations.
Maybe it’s because they grew up during the transition from an analog world to a digital one. Maybe it’s because childhood felt more optimistic before social media, smartphones, and constant online pressure became the norm.
I don't necessarily think it's cringe. If anything, it's a fascinating generational trait.
But it does make me wonder:
Why do millennials seem so much more interested in reliving childhood than the generations before or after them?
