A 40-year-old man has been shot dead in East Acton while dozens of people, including children, were gathered for a memorial service.
Police were called to the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street just before 7:50pm on Friday 2 October, after reports of several shots being heard. Officers and paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he was pronounced dead. His family has been informed.
Detectives say between 40 and 50 people were in the area at the time, many of them there for the memorial. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie described it as a senseless act of violence, and said what should have been a time of remembrance has left a family devastated.
A murder investigation is under way and no arrests have been made. Police are appealing to anyone who was around Braybrook Street, Erconwald Street, the surrounding roads or Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6pm and 8pm on Friday, and want any photos, video, dashcam, doorbell or phone footage. Call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends ποΈ
