ALT Gia Reilly '27 Master of Public Administration The Office of Women's Advancement and Advocacy In this internship, I was able to research policy concepts to help Delaware women and girls. I created a collective policy proposal covering a wide range of topics, such as menopause education, increasing access to School Based Health Centers, and protection for those looking to donate period products to their community. Working within a State of Delaware office that has an outward facing position gave me insight into how important communication and asking questions can be. I had the opportunity to attend the She's On Her Way event, celebrating young women in Delaware. Here I saw communities come together to raise each other up. It was refreshing how connected this office was and how open they were to new ideas. I am so appreciative of my time with OWAA and hope to keep supporting Delaware women as I begin my final year of my masters!

ALT Tori Kimball '27 Criminal Justice and Psychology majors and Musical Theater and Forensics minors Coalition for a Safer Delaware Currently, I am helping design a child friendly gun safety graphic that we will distribute at our events. Using Canva I was able to design two coloring pages for children ages 4-7 and 8-13. Our hope is to foster gun safety in children early to prevent accidental deaths, but we wanted to make sure our graphics were also welcoming and appropriate for a child to pick up. The main thing I considered while I was creating my graphic was whether or not I as a parent would feel comfortable with my child seeing our gun safety graphics. This is the first design work that I have gotten to do for any internship or job I've held, so I was super excited to let the creative side of me shine!

ALT Madison Majors '27 Master of Public Administration Office of the Lieutenant Governor While the 153rd General Assembly came to a close on June 30th, for the remaining time I have left in my internship I will be working on an independent research project focused on a public policy issue. This project will allow me to dive deeper into policy research, analyze data and legislation, engage with stakeholders, and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations. I'm looking forward to strengthening my research and analytical skills while contributing to work that can help inform thoughtful public policy that aligns with the Lieutenant Governor's initiatives and improve outcomes for Delaware communities.

ALT Avery Allcock '28 Psychology & Public Policy major and Spanish minor The United States Conference of Mayors. After returning from the United States Conference of Mayors' annual meeting in Long Beach, California in June, I have been working on a variety of projects. I am most excited about my work with the Children, Health, and Human Services standing committee. As a psychology and public policy double major, I am constantly looking for ways to combine both of my passions to create meaningful change for our most vulnerable communities. I am extremely grateful that the Conference has allowed me to do just this: develop a mental health awareness campaign for the Conference's social media platforms.

ALT Mirabella Troncoso '27 Political Science & Public Policy major McLarty Associates One of the most exciting parts about my internship with McLarty Associates is getting a firsthand look at how trade policy is developed and implemented. Working with the Trade Practice has allowed me to attend U.S. Trade Representative hearings, Senate hearings, and business roundtables on issues ranging from tariffs to supply chain resilience. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from an exceptional team and contribute to work that helps stakeholders navigate an increasingly complex global trade landscape.

ALT Ryder Adams '29 Political Science, Civic Leadership & Policy Studies major Office of Congresswoman Sarah McBride I am currently working on a legislative project. I am researching a piece of legislation I would like to propose to the staff in my office, and if it is something that they think Congresswoman McBride would like to work on, it will be sent to her legislative team. My legislative project is centered around opioid use in our community and finding ways to address the challenges faced by those struggling with addiction through prevention, harm-reduction, and recovery.

ALT Nyasha Rutanhira '27 Political Science Major and Human Development and Family Sciences & Global Studies with Language minors Active Minds As the Operations Intern at Active Minds, I have had the opportunity to support projects that keep the organization running smoothly. The project I am most excited to be working on is the planning and execution of the annual Active Minds Conference in Washington, DC. In this role, I help manage the conference inbox and assist with many of the behind the scenes logistics, including organizing registrations, coordinating hotel reservations, menu selections, preparing name tags, and supporting other operational details. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I have learned so much about what it takes to help a large nonprofit operate effectively.

ALT Erin Thomas '27 Global Business, Business Analytics major and Writing minor Human Rights Campaign With the SCOTUS decisions coming out, everyone is more than aware of our ever-growing mission to protect LGBTQ+ rights. The support work I do for my team as a writer, researcher and graphic designer aids in delivering larger change that each one of us works towards every day. I love working for a cause so close to my heart.

ALT Suhani Mehta '28 Public Policy major and Political Communication & Legal Studies minor Office of Senator Chris Coons I am currently on my Health & Education and Energy & Environment Policy rotations in the office! It has been incredibly interesting working with so many talented people and gaining hands-on experience with our legislative priorities. My work includes conducting policy research and developing recommendations to support our staffers on a variety of issues. I have also had the opportunity to attend committee hearings and policy briefings, giving me a firsthand understanding of the legislative process and policy challenges. Alongside these tasks, I also regularly give Capitol tours and answer constituent phone calls, allowing me to engage directly with the public. As a Public Policy student, this internship has been one of the most rewarding and insightful experiences I have ever had.

ALT Brynn Bowen '27 Communications major and Italian & Art minor Delaware Center for Justice In the month I've spent with DCJ so far, I've been working on promoting our mission of advocacy through social media platforms as well as creating a communication messaging plan for the next several months. Currently, I am very excited as I am helping plan our annual Visions of Justice conference that will take place in a few months. This includes reaching out to speakers, promoting the event, and communicating with businesses and potential sponsors. This internship has given me the opportunity to learn more about the criminal justice system and the policies that affect our Delaware community specifically. My experience so far has been amazing!

ALT Megan McGrath '28 Public Policy & Communication: Public Relations major and Spanish Minor CleanCapital Throughout my summer policy internship, I have worked on many projects, participated in policy discussions, attended meetings, all of which have helped me in developing my larger internship project, where we will present our findings to the company. Besides my day-to-day work, one of the most exciting parts of my internship so far has been attending a site visit to one of CleanCapital’s many solar energy projects. A group of interns and new hires got the chance to travel to a site in New Jersey to see the solar panels in-person and learn more about site maintenance. It was a great learning experience, and it put the work we are doing into perspective seeing development in my home state.

ALT Hana Ahmed '28 International Relations major and Arabic minor Office of Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester I have enjoyed getting to work closely with the Senator’s staff to learn more about the legislative process and help address the issues and concerns that impact constituents. Public service and finding ways to give back to my community have always been my passion, so I am truly grateful for this internship opportunity. This experience will not only allow me to gain firsthand knowledge of federal policymaking, but it will also allow me to learn from an amazing team and contribute to meaningful work that supports Delaware communities.
