The EU signed together with @unicef and @UNDP the first two flagship projects under the #TeamGazaInitiative, worth €43 million. ⤵️
We took another step for the people of Gaza, joining forces with our @UN partners.
Together with @unicefchief and @alexanderdecroo, I signed the first two flagship projects under our #TeamGazaInitiative, worth €43 million.
💧 €37 million with @UNICEF to improve access to drinking water and reduce exposure to wastewater for around 1 million people.
♻️ €6 million with @UNDP to support waste collection, transfer and recycling.
These basic services are essential for people’s health and dignity.
And we are ready to do more. #TeamGaza brings together nearly €1 billion in early recovery projects.
Turning these commitments into results requires access and security on the ground.
We will continue working with our partners to give people in Gaza a perspective and hope for the future.

Effective governance programming depends on regular reflection, evidence of results and coordinated action. 📊🤝
📍 At the 20th Technical Committee Meeting of the EU–UNDP GREAT Project, @EUinTheGambia, @UNDP_TheGambia and national partners reviewed implementation progress, discussed emerging challenges and agreed on priority actions to advance delivery.
💡 The Alternative Dispute Resolution Secretariat @ADRSGambia presented major milestones and achievements from project-supported capacity development initiatives. Pre- and post-training evaluations demonstrated significant gains in institutional capacity and enhanced ADR performance across the board of more than 90%! 📈
The meeting also provided a platform to follow up on agreed actions, address implementation priorities and strengthen coordination across project interventions. 🔄

A #UNDPinPakistan delegation, led by Resident Representative Dr. @SamuelRizk, met with Hon. Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Muhammad Kamran Khan Malakhail, to reaffirm a shared commitment to improving access to justice for all.
With @EUPakistan support, this partnership strengthened alternative dispute resolution across Balochistan by:
👩⚖️ Training 82 judges in mediation, including 33 now accredited
🏛️ Establishing 10 court-annexed mediation centres
📊 A study of five centres found 70–90% settlement rates, with disputes resolved in 2–4 weeks instead of months or years.

One million tonnes is a milestone. But in #Gaza, it also puts the scale of what remains into perspective.
@UNDP is working alongside the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, through the Debris Management Working Group, to advance coordinated debris removal across Gaza.
With support from Japan, Norway, the Republic of Korea, the European Union and Germany through KfW, this work is helping reopen access to neighbourhoods, homes and essential services.
The scale ahead is immense. Sustaining and expanding debris removal is critical to creating the conditions for early recovery.

At #UNGA81, I was pleased to co-host with 🇱🇧 Prime Minister @nawafsalam and @UNDP Administrator @alexanderdecroo a high-level dialogue on how we can start building recovery and resilience while responding to immediate humanitarian needs.
Glad to see such strong participation around this important discussion.
Our approach must go beyond responding to emergencies. From day one, we also need to restore essential services, strengthen institutions and create the conditions for people to rebuild their lives.
