@UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib welcomed Hon. Ellen Amarkai Attoh-Wreh, Chair of the Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia, to discuss progress under the #IBSAFund-supported initiative advancing women’s political participation, leadership and economic empowerment in Liberia 🇱🇷. From Liberia 🇱🇷 to India 🇮🇳 and back: #SouthSouthCooperation in action. They reflected on the Caucus’ recent peer-learning mission to India and explored opportunities to put lessons on women-led development, gender-responsive budgeting and digital inclusion into practice. With support from India 🇮🇳, Brazil 🇧🇷 and South Africa 🇿🇦 through the #IBSAFund, and in partnership with @UNWomenLiberia and @UN_Women, the initiative is helping strengthen women’s leadership and inclusive governance in Liberia. @IndiaUNNewYork @Brazil_UN_NY @SAMissionNY @LibMissionUN

On the sidelines of #UNGA81 and ahead of #COP31, students participating in the UNOSSC–NYU Consulting Practicum, “From Sevilla to 2030+: Financing Climate Resilience in the Global South,” met with H.E. Abou Bamba, Minister for Environment and Ecological Transition of Côte d’Ivoire. The exchange explored financing options and existing and emerging climate resilience solutions and technologies, including how to translate national adaptation priorities into financed projects, mobilize private investment for agricultural resilience and ensure financing reaches smallholder farmers, including cocoa and cashew producers. Discussions also examined how #SouthSouthCooperation and #TriangularCooperation can help countries learn faster from each other, exchange practical solutions and technologies, and bridge financing and technical capacity gaps to scale locally driven adaptation. Through its collaboration with the NYU SPS Center for Global Affairs, @UNOSSC is connecting students with policymakers to explore pathways to a more climate-resilient Global South. #ClimateResilience #ClimateFinance

Digital transformation advances human development when investment in technology goes hand in hand with investment in people, skills and institutions. At the #UNGA81 dialogue ‘Bahrain’s Digital Transformation Journey: National Human Development Report’, organized by @Derasatbh with @UndpBahrain, in coordination with @bahdiplomatic and @MTT_Bahrain, UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib (@dimaalkhatib1) highlighted how #SouthSouth and #TriangularCooperation can help turn the AI divide into an AI dividend. The dialogue presented preliminary findings from Bahrain’s forthcoming National Human Development Report. Drawing on Bahrain’s experience, the Director emphasized peer learning, institutional partnerships and trusted governance to help countries adapt digital solutions to national priorities. Through the Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation and South-South Galaxy+, UNOSSC stands ready to connect Bahrain’s experience with country needs across the region and beyond – supporting better public services and expanded opportunities. Connecting knowledge, technology and finance can help Southern-led solutions deliver impact across borders. At the #UNGA81 high-level event “Financing the Future”, co-convened by Morocco and @UNDP, UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib (@dimaalkhatib1) highlighted how #SouthSouth and #TriangularCooperation can scale investment, strengthen productive capacities and advance sustainable development. UNOSSC’s newly launched Global Alliance for South-South and Triangular Cooperation connects country-identified needs with Southern solutions, expertise, partnerships and financing opportunities. Morocco and UNDP are among its first partners. Together with UNOSSC’s South-South Trust Funds, the Global Alliance will help translate solutions into partnerships and investment – so that what works in one country can deliver impact across many. En el 81.º período de sesiones de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas #UNGA81, la Embajadora Lina Eugenia Ajoy Rojas (@AjoyLina) sostuvo una reunión con la Directora de la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas para la Cooperación Sur-Sur (UNOSSC), Dima Al-Khatib. En este espacio, exploraron oportunidades de fortalecer la relación SICA-UNOSSC, para impulsar una alianza estratégica en Cooperación Sur-Sur y Triangular. En ese sentido, la Secretaria General Ajoy Rojas destacó que durante su gestión priorizará esta modalidad de cooperación, con el objetivo de aprovechar las capacidades existentes en la región, promover soluciones compartidas y generar nuevas alianzas. Como parte del encuentro, conversaron sobre la oportunidad para dinamizar la cooperación con una visión de largo plazo centrada en el intercambio de conocimientos, capacidades, innovación y buenas prácticas entre países del Sur; así como fortalecer las capacidades del SICA en la gestión del conocimiento, sistematización y escalamiento de experiencias compartidas, posicionando al SICA en foros internacionales.
