There are days in our Southwestern country that people call brassy but should be called steel. The sun beats down with a merciless white fire until the cloudless sky is scarcely blue but rather like the blade of a knife that for days has been ground to the stone.

Friends, the fall of humanity consists in a grasping at equality with God.
Human hubris is the fundamental problem.
The solution is the humility of God, who emptied himself and became human to meet fallen humanity.
Do not feel defeated when you acknowledge “demons” that seem to have control of you. They do not! God’s power is mightier. In faith, ask the Lord to expel anything that seems to be paralyzing you from living a good, holy, and pure life. Then, you will know victory and freedom.
I prowl this twisted asphalt jungle identifying cars in people's old family photos. Got one, pal? Just post it with password davescaridservice and I'll be on the case.
My name is Burge. And I'm a car dick.
Bro still in 'real' hospital, they're going to take another swing at the heart scan supposedly. At least he's enjoying the food. Intermountain hospitals tend to have really good food. And a vast menu to choose from. The one here in St. George makes a terrific wood fired pizza.
God gives us Guardian Angels as his messengers and protectors. They remind us that we are never alone and that the Lord is always near to lead, guide, and guard us. There is no better security especially in our time of need. Have no fear!
St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus says love is at the heart of all vocations. You will spend energy today doing God’s work and carrying out your responsibilities. But, it is all in vain unless love is at the center of everything you do. When it is, you have lived your vocation.
This is exactly what Obamacare did to health insurance. It is no longer insurance but rather it is expensive pre-paid medical that everyone pays, and launders money to the pharmaceutical industry.
In nearly every insurance market, insurance is used to prevent low probability / high impact events from being financially catastrophic
If you're insuring high probability events, its not really insurance, it's just an inefficient payment plan
Having to pay $3,000 out of pocket for my daughter’s braces while having what the dentist called “really good dental insurance” is exactly why I’ll continue to say this
Dental and vision not being included in health insurance is a scam that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough
Took my dad to a medical test this morning and the facility we went to sends you a QR code that you then scan at a kiosk to do your check-in. They literally had one live person if you didn't use the QR Code system and the line was 30 people deep. My 86-year-old dad uses a flip phone so if I wasn't with him he would have had to wait in that line. And I would say the average age of the person in that line was 80 plus. So we're making all the people with walkers and canes stand in line for an hour to check in. I'm all for embracing technology but this is ridiculous.

A subset of people diagnosed with severe psychiatric illnesses may actually have immune-mediated brain diseases. Properly diagnosing and effectively treating these patients is an important area of discovery in the mental health space.
I had a deeply interesting and informative time visiting researchers at the National Institute of Mental Health yesterday, who are working on cutting-edge approaches to that issue and many more.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed legislation recognizing Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays and allowing public schools to recognize their religious significance.
California is home to more than 10 million Catholics, yet there is no similar specific statutory authorization for public schools to recognize the religious significance of Christmas, Easter, or Good Friday.
