We have all seen the job currently advertised at Manchester United for a Supporter Escalations Executive: careers.manutd.com/en/postin…
A few lines in this spec speak volumes about the club's current direction.
The role explicitly asks the successful candidate to:
"Independently own a high-volume caseload of complex investigations, sanctions, appeals and escalations..."
Admitting that sanctions and escalations are now a "high-volume caseload" confirms what many of us feared: the recent waves of account restrictions on Season Ticket holders and Members are not isolated errors. It is an intentional, sustained strategy to mass-screen supporter accounts.
Even more concerning is the inclusion of an Annual Incentive Scheme to reward performance.
For an operational role tasked with investigating and suspending supporters, what performance metrics are actually being rewarded? When incentives in this type of environment are driven by case turnaround speed, clearing tickets in time for matchday resale, and defending sanction decisions against appeal, where is the incentive to actually listen to innocent supporters caught out by flawed club data?
