SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT… If i miss one credit card payment, that follows me for 7 years and tanks my ability to get an apartment. But if a bank gets caught laundering money for actual criminals, they pay a fine that’s less than a rounding error on their quarterly earning and keep operating like nothing happened? ONCE AGAIN, consequences are only for people who can’t afford to buy their way out of them. I’M SO SICK OF THE HYPOCRISY.

BIG CORPORATION: “We brought in $10 Billion, but after expenses our profit was only $100 Million.” IRS: “Fair enough. Taxes on the profit.” AVERAGE AMERICAN: “I earned $75,000, but spent $65,000 to stay afloat.” IRS: “Cool. Taxes on the full $75,000.” AVERAGE AMERICAN: “But wait…” IRS: “Pay your 35% taxes or else risk getting huge fines & possibly jail time…”

We’re living in a time where you can work 40 hours a week, cook at home, drive an older car, skip vacations, cancel subscriptions… and STILL have nothing left to save. And please don’t hit people with “budget better.” People ARE budgeting. Housing is expensive. Groceries are expensive. Insurance is expensive. Everything feels like it takes a bigger chunk of your paycheck. You can walk into Costco for “a few things” and somehow leave $300 poorer. That’s why people are frustrated. They’re not asking for yachts and luxury vacations. They’re asking to work hard, live a NORMAL life, and still have something left at the end of the month. Why does that feel like too much to ask now?

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME LIKE I’M IN KINDERGARTEN Why did we replace every bulb with LED, bought Energy Star appliances, built massive solar and wind farms, kept the lights off, lowered the thermostat, and yet the electric bill keeps climbing? We did everything they told us to do, and somehow the only thing getting more efficient is how fast they take our money.

REMEMBER WHEN STREAMING WAS SUPPOSED TO SAVE US FROM CABLE? Netflix Standard: $19.99 Peacock Premium Plus: $19.99 Hulu No Ads: $18.99 HBO Max Standard: $18.49 YouTube Premium: $15.99 Paramount+ Premium: $13.99 Apple TV: $14.99 TOTAL: $122.43/month That’s $1,469.16 A YEAR just for streaming. We canceled cable because it was “too expensive”…then rebuilt the SAME THING one subscription at a time.

My HOA fined me $500 because my trash can was visible from the street for one day after garbage pickup. I paid it. Two weeks later, the HOA president knocked on my door. A storm had damaged his fence, and he asked if i could move my truck so contractors could park in my driveway while they repaired it. I politely said no. He reminded me that neighbors should help each other. I reminded him that he could’ve shown the same understanding when he fined me over a trash can. Now the neighborhood says i’m holding a grudge. Was i wrong… or did he expect kindness after showing none?

40% income tax on everything I make. 15.3% self employment tax on my business profit. 23.8% capital gains taxes on my investments. 9.75% sales tax on items that i buy. $13k/ a year tax on property i own. I’m sitting here thinking how many times is the same dollar going to be taxed before it belongs to us?

DEAR BILLIONAIRES, WE’RE NOT “CONFISCATING” ANYTHING. 45 years ago, you made society a promise that if we reduce your tax bill, you would use some of that money to improve conditions for all Americans. Instead, you chose to do the opposite. That was the choice you made. So now we’re demanding to go back to what worked before. TAXING you at the proper rate. You’ve had a great ride, but let’s be clear. YOUR GREED IS WHY WE’RE HERE.

In 1971, the federal minimum wage was $1.60 an hour. 40-hour workweek earned you $64 equivalent to 1.83 ounces of gold using the $35/oz official gold price at the time. Today, 1.83 ounces of gold is worth roughly $8,300. To earn $8,300 in a 40-hour workweek today, you'd need to make $208/HOUR. $1.60/hour then. $208/hour today. Measured in gold. LET THAT SINK IN.

Wife: “Daycare just raised our bill to $2,000 a month.” Husband: “I can pick up more hours.” Wife: “That’s exactly what I don’t want.” Husband: “What do you mean?” Wife: “You’ll spend less time with her so I can keep working and spend less time with her.” He went quiet. Wife: “After taxes, daycare, gas, and everything else it costs me to work, we’re barely coming out ahead.” She looked toward their sleeping daughter. Wife: “I think I want to stay home.” That’s the childcare squeeze in one conversation. Two parents working more, seeing their child less, and still barely getting ahead. A second income may look better on paper. That doesn’t always mean a family has more money where it counts.

A case of soda is $9+ now. I remember seeing deals like 4 for $12 back in 2020. I compared SAME grocery order: From 2020: $72.58 From today: $163.29 Over $90 MORE for the same order. That’s over 100% inflation rate since 2020. Our paychecks sure as hell didn’t double… I CAN’T BE THE ONLY ONE THAT’S NOTICING THIS RIGHT??

Government: "We spent $886B on defense this year." You: "I asked for $35,000 in student loan forgiveness." Government: "That's not feasible." You: "You gave Wall Street $700B in bailouts in 2008. Recovered in months." Government: "That was systemic." You: "I can't afford insulin. I ration it. People die rationing it." Government: "That's a personal budgeting issue." You: "You found $2.2 trillion for a war nobody voted on." Government: "National security." You: "My security is a $1,400 rent and a $19 minimum wage that hasn't moved since 2009." Government: "…" You: "You print money for tax cuts on people who already have more than they can spend. But 'we can't afford' healthcare, housing, or childcare." Government: "It's complicated." You: "It's not complicated. You just decided I'm not the priority." Government: "Taxes are due the 15th." You: "Of course they are."

BOOMERS: Worked one job for 40 years, bought a house for $47,000, and retired with a pension. GEN X: Worked through 4 recessions, and somehow became everyone’s forgotten middle child. MILLENNIALS: Have 3 jobs, 5 side hustles, $80,000 in student loans, and zillow open 24/7. GEN Z: “You want me to work 40 HOURS every week AND come to the office???”

LET’S REMEMBER WHAT THE F*CK TAXES ARE SUPPOSED TO DO: Pay for the things we all depend on. Roads, schools, healthcare, public safety, infrastructure, and services that make a functioning society possible. Taxes aren’t supposed to be a billionaire’s personal piggy bank or a blank check for corporate power and political influence. We pay into society, and society should work for the people! Not just the people sitting at the top of the f*cking pile. THAT’S NOT RADICAL. THAT’S THE BASIC IDEA OF A SOCIAL CONTRACT.

UNPOPULAR PARENTING OPINION: Normalize taking your kid on a TRIP for their birthday instead of spending $1,000+ entertaining everybody else's kids. $500 decorations nobody remembers. Goodie bags that go straight in the trash. Another mountain of toys they'll forget about in 3 weeks. Take that money and GO SOMEWHERE. Beach. Camping. Road trip. Hotel. Whatever. Give them an EXPERIENCE they might remember for the rest of their life. I'll choose memories over a $1,000+ kids birthday party EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

So baby boomers decided their house they bought for $10,000 should now be worth $500,000. the job they got out of high school should now require a college degree and that college degree that was $500 should now be $200,000 and the job that paid $20 an hour in the 90s is now paying $20 an hour and now they're deciding AI should replace our jobs? Maybe we should stop paying their retirement then.

One of my friend's brother's recently got laid off. He was making $350k annually working in tech. He had a Nice house, $8,000/month mortgage, nice cars, vacations every few months. Got laid off 6 months ago. Still jobless. He apparently took out $100,000 HELOC to cover bills, he's burning through $10,000/month with no relief near in sight. This is someone I saw winning in life. Now there down BAD. This is an important lesson to save at least 6 month emergency fund to cover bills. Also an important lesson on lifestyle inflation. Only because you make more money doesn't mean you should always spend more too. The scary part is he's not an idiot. He's smart. He just believed the income was permanent. $100k HELOC at $10k/month burn rate. That's 10 months left if nothing changes. And tech hiring right now isn't exactly moving fast. The house he loved is now the thing draining him.

Home builders need to create starter homes for $200k-$250k, 1,250-1,500 sq ft and 3 beds/2 baths, so the next generation has a real chance to become homeowners. Instead, many new homes are being built at $500k, 2,500+ sq ft, with 5 beds/3 baths and are being labeled as "starter homes." $4,000+ monthly payment isn't a starter home. 2,500 sq ft house isn't starter home. Inflation has affected affordability but so has greed. We don't need mini mansions, we need to build true starter homes. A starter home should be a place where people can begin building wealth, not a price point that feels impossible to reach.

Typical American Monthly Income: $3,500 Rent: $1,250 Health insurance: $200 Car insurance: $150 Car Loan: $500 Student Loan: $300 Gas/Transportation: $150 Entertainment: $50 Utility bill: $100 Eating out: $300 Groceries: $400 Phone: $100 Shopping: $50 Money Left over: -$50 You don’t have a spending problem. You probably have an income problem. If you don’t spend much but still find it hard to save or invest your money, then you’re gonna need to increase your income.
