Aside from fact that many are misinformed re test scores (Chinese and Indians don’t do better than whites, no) which I let @blancmontagnard write on…it was for other reasons also that model minorities (and to some extent white females) not blacks that are the bigger cause for the brokenness of American meritocracy Credentials and test scores simply stop being leading indicators of achievement in highly corrupt and mediocre Asian society. Otherwise they wouldn’t need to move to America and Europe btw

The real cope is to pretend to forget that East Asia has had Western scientific education for decades but minimal contributions; or to ignore IMO and IOI scores and pretend that purpose of “meritocracy” is to overproduce somewhat mediocre accountants and call center managers

On this episode also I discuss a Quora/Steve-Sailer-comments-sections type dispute chimpout that broke out in the comments to my Orban vs Lee Kuan Yew recent article. In that article I claimed Orban, besides mistreating his working class and turning them into serfs, also caused brain drain excessive even for 2000-2025 East Europe by providing NOTHING in terms of "talent pyramid" or cognitive escalator for the right-hand-tail of the IQ bell curve or other incentives to stay and prosper. This is in contrast to Lee Kuan Yew who directed all his efforts to this, knowing it is the top cognitive 5% who end up driving economic development and progress. If an honest effort is made to find and groom them. In response when you say anything like this you always get an Asian or Jewish or Indian engineer on forums, etc., explaining the HBD orthodoxy that "Lee Kuan Yew could do it because he had smart East Asians, whereas Hungarians who were gifted in the past were exclusively Jewish, they are peasant stock now, so Orban had nothing to work with." As I said on this episode this is a stupid and frequent claim, but even if it's stupid it's an interesting occasion to look at the numbers. Accordingly I've attached here two tables comparing Singapore, Hungary and some other nations side by side. It's very revealing Singapore certainly DOES top the world at PISA score, and beats Hungary at that (Hungary is at OECD average). BUT: in the prestige intellect competitions, Hungary far exceeds Singapore and in fact is one of the top in the world. The IMO by the way exists only since 1959, at which point Hungarian Jews had mostly departed. These are mostly ethnic Magyars winning math olympiads. They do very well in IOI (computing olympiad) too, although Singapore does well there also. Hungary has equivalent of "Nobel" winners in math since 2000 (Abel, Wolf prizes), which Singapore has 0 (they're ethnic Magyars...2 of 28 Abel prizes given). Per capita Hungary is #5 in the world at math olympiad golds. Hungary also by far exceeds in Nobels and chess grandmasters, and although a good number of the Nobels are Jews (maybe half? the first Hungarian Nobel prize is a father-mischling...idk someone can count) a large number also are Magyars, which also puts this ethny per capita in the top world ranks. Kariko the recent Hungarian Nobel winner for medicine in 2023 is a Magyar, e.g. (of peasant stock, at that). A good % of chess grandmasters are also Magyar. (Anyway the point here isn't to say Hungarian Jews aren't gifted, because they seem very much to be, but ...regardless of the ethnic stock of these Hungarians who can produce this extremely high-end intellectual output, Orban didn't capitalize on this, and rather chased them away.) In the (athletic) summer Olympics Hungary has more gold medals per capita than any nation in the world, and exceeds e.g., China per capita 90x (despite China putting enormous efforts and funding into this for decades). Singapore has I think 1. Maybe you think sports don't matter, but Lee Kuan Yew did, and said it was part of his eugenic orientation in speeches. And Singapore puts a lot of effort and funding into this too (including I think a $1 million flat prize for any Singaporean who wins). This comes up as a typical ethnonarcissist pissing match any time you have open comments sections on the internet but the point here is much more important: to say Orban didn't have human capital to do what Lee Kuan Yew did is a way to excuse his failure. He certainly did, and my point is he didn't *try* ...he showed no interest in this. He chose to alienate anyone intelligent or ambitious, of whatever background. He also chose to alienate the urban liberal professional classes who SUPPORTED HIM to begin with, for no reason other than his narrow-mindedness and lack of vision. Orban is a terrible example to the international right and his enmeshment with the American conservative spheres is very troubling.
