Just a thought....but if Terry Smith was hired and not Campbell do you think a bunch of the players that had transferred would have end up staying?

Possibly, Campbell will be fine, it's one game.

Youre right. We have to see how he responds to adversity

If we got Hartline would jeremiah smith came here? I get the thought but Terry stayed so I doubt it made that much of a difference, maybe 1-2 more players but it’s really an unknown. The most important thing now is getting the top local recruits that we’ve been missing out on

It was just they way the players from last years roster rallied and even held signs of telling Kraft to hire Terry Smith after the Nebraska game I believe. They bought in.

It's one loss, can we all take a deep breath and chill out with some of these takes?

Without question should have hired chesney - Campbell might end up ok but this year is not going to be good - Iowa st talent is not going to work in big ten

Hard to say. Thought Smith was still there though as an assistant coach.

Smith was/is a Paterno in the sense the team played with Grit because they wanted to. Each player had the drive, the inspiration and the determination as a team player contributing to the whole. Those are the missing elements that makes it "Penn State".

Don't do that, hypotheticals are useless

Yes, if the option was Campbell. He seems like a very nice man. Not sure he’s a great coach.

Rocco transferred with the rest of the Iowa team. I would have loved for Grunkemyer to stay and develop him further. He was progressing nicely. Let’s see how things improve this week before any hasty retorts are spewed. We all saw how disconnected things were, be patient

Hahahaha I mean how many coaches turned down the job?

No. Those players committed to James Franklin, not Penn state.

Probably not. I had the same thought this morning.

I think we’ll be just fine. Campbell is a great coach and once he gets settled, he’ll be able to recruit better talent and will have more time to fill apota. We didnt know what to expect this season with such short notice of hiring of CMC and staff

They could have stayed. Terry Smith is with the program. Guys that wanted to stay and play for him good have.

And do you think even for a second that Terry Smith would field a team as embarrassing as that was?

Maybe some but most still would have bailed

I've been concerned ever since Penn State became Iowa State East. There is a huge difference between playing styles from the Big East and the Big 12. The Nittany Lions looked awful on Saturday in their loss to Wisconsin. Buckle up. It might be a long season.

Why live in the past? This team needs to deal with today’s reality and needs our support. Truth!
