Shami was definitely a 300 Test wickets kind of bowler who could have gone for 350 . He didn’t give up despite being ignored consistently of late. Maybe he thought seaming and swinging conditions of NZ were his last hope and once his Test selection for tour was not done, it was only a practical decision. Remember Andy Roberts rating him slightly higher than Bumrah in 2022 because of his exceptional wrist work.
