Being at a protest doesn’t give you the right to block traffic. Following a June 2025 “No Kings” protest in Catskill, New York, a woman claimed she was struck and injured by a vehicle. She says the police blamed her for being in the roadway and issued her a citation. There’s an important distinction between peacefully protesting and putting yourself in the path of moving vehicles. Drivers have a responsibility to avoid hitting pedestrians, but pedestrians also have a responsibility to obey traffic laws. The exact circumstances of this incident remain disputed. Whether she was crossing the street or refusing to move makes a significant difference. The right to protest doesn’t eliminate anyone’s responsibility for public safety.

This is the Democrat nominee for Congress in the toss-up Iowa 2nd District race. She is asked if non-citizens should receive the same government benefits as American citizens. Just watch her attempt to answer the question
