Update! 🚨 : Meet @Tochi_jr he use the Oladips cooking remember me😭. Cool guy btw @fimiwiththeflow shockingly was happy to see me, same with @jamz_fr and I stole some pictures from them. Both tore their performances tho I was hoping they performed stickz & stonez 🫩 @emaxee_ also shockingly knows me. Small world dawg, small world @starsamm, just realized we following on here lol, tho it’s one sided but well, I’m the fan. Great performance & oh wow. Didn’t know this was the type of fire songs I was listening prior lol Meet @Oladapoofficial , called him the ‘diamonds’ background vocal guy, he smiled and said yes then I called him afro R&B bcus he was chill😂. Gentle soul Chilled with my nigga @DamonGrxss for the most part, na crazy worker I must say, he from there went to another show tho I wasted his time. Had to listen to some bangers from his car. That nigga stupid!😭‼️ Saw Lovn & MIA but I couldn’t greet them Yeah the show was worth it aside the excessive time wasting, like African time pro max. Plus thank God I didn’t look at the lineup bcus it was more afrobeats/afro pop peeps, woulda missed out of discovering some amazing talents. Ehmmm, lest I forget! @majesty_lyn said she don’t know me…. And na my fave oh😒. E mean say I never do enough. I’d take it as that😌

BATTLE RAPPERS, WAKE UP!!! I think a lot of battle rappers still don’t understand the difference between business and emotions and it’s costing the culture valuable opportunities. When was the last time Battle Rap enjoyed this much attention on Nigerian X? Someone was trolling and the conversation went VIRAL on the basis of “weak/wack bars.” Almost a million X users engaged on different timelines and what did some of you do with that attention? Focused on the person being dragged instead of using the moment to put your own craft in front of a much wider audience. You had the attention of an audience you have been struggling to reach, and you chose to watch the drama instead of market your art. Where were the battle videos? The punchlines? The performance clips? The links to your battles? The compilations that could have introduced thousands of new people to your names? You don’t need YCee to endorse Battle Rap. You don’t need the person being dragged to validate your craft. You need to understand how to turn public attention into visibility, visibility into interest, and interest into actual fans. Some of you are so busy defending the culture emotionally that you forget to grow it commercially. And this whole “when they need us, they know where to find us” mentality? That’s not a strategy. It’s an excuse. If the audience knew you well enough, you wouldn’t be waiting for somebody to mention your art before you became relevant to the conversation. The uncomfortable truth is that many battle rappers are only popular within their immediate circles, leagues and platforms. You know your worth. Your colleagues know your worth. Your core fans know your worth. But the wider audience doesn’t know you exist. And you cannot build a sustainable career from recognition within your own community alone. Someone literally referred to Battle Rap as “Rap Battle Fight,” and some of you still believe the general public understands what you do? They don’t even know the name of the art, talk less of knowing your names, your bars, your battles or your leagues. That should tell you how much work remains to be done. Every trending conversation is not necessarily your enemy. Sometimes, it is a FREE MARKETING OPPORTUNITY staring you in the face. Learn to separate personal feelings from professional opportunities. Not every conversation requires your outrage. Sometimes, it requires a link, a clip, a punchline and a smart caption. STOP WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED. START MAKING YOURSELVES IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE. When the trend dies, the opportunity dies with it. And the same people you are waiting to acknowledge you will move on to the next trending topic. Attention is currency. Learn how to spend it. PSA: TWO BATTLE RAP AFRICA EVENT ANNOUNCEMENTS COMING SOON! Watch this space. Blessings to everybody 🙏

On Saturday, 17 October, at around 10pm, I was attacked while out on a walk in East Legon, Accra. About ten masked men on five motorcycles surrounded me. The riders tried to box me into a corner while the men on the back swung machetes at me. My elbow took a blow that was meant for my head. I managed to break away and run across the road, where a good Samaritan picked me up and rushed me to Lister Hospital at Airport Hills Blvd. I was taken straight into surgery and my injuries were treated. The attack has been reported to the Ghana Police Service and is being investigated. I am now in a safe place while the police work to establish who was behind it and why. To the stranger who stopped for me that night, and to the doctors and nurses who cared for me: thank you. To my friends, fans and well-wishers: please don’t worry, I am well by God’s grace. I ask that you don’t speculate about who was responsible or direct anger at anyone. Let the police do their work, and if you have any information, please share it with them. Peace and love always. ❤️ — A-Q
