AI 'labs' need to come clean and start telling the public what AI is and isn't. They're not doing this because they are using that epistemic gap for their own benefit. Leadership is often filling in the blanks so the people who know less than you feel comfortable and included. That none of you are doing this is shameful and a missed opportunity - not to mention, public perception is biting you in the ass and you may be unaware. š¤Ø

An executive decree, will be interesting to see which direct reports adopt the new moniker first. Personally, I think we could've done better than SI - though it does mean 'Yes' in Spanish so I guess that's something.

He left out a big one: AI will close the epistemic gap on complex issues. Ideas that require distortion or falsehood will not survive in a world where AI filters information and can deliver a fun 30 sec cartoon explaining anything at any level. This is the reason Grok Imagine development is being pushed so hard.
Imagine what humanity and our world are like when collective alignment to truth is the default state. š¤
One of the best things about AI is that it will finally get government out of our lives.
Health care will be so inexpensive that we won't need government-run health care.
Education will be so inexpensive that we won't need government-run schools.
Everyone will get universal high income, so we won't need welfare or government pensions.
War will end, so we won't need the military.
A universal death penalty will prevent all crime, so we won't need police.
All other government jobs will be replaced with optimally efficient AI.
We will finally be free from government.

The assumption that the auto industry is a serious industry is where this prediction falls apart. Tesla fans have been pointing this (and other easy adoption paths) for years, automakers only respond with hubris.
Prediction: Tesla will keep FSD an in-house advantage for a couple years, and then once others start getting close will begin licensing it for other carsājust as they opened up the Supercharger network.

When the first annual capability audits that rank territories by compute throughput rather than GDP or population appear, the territories without intelligent compute will panic. Planet-scale FOMO will be a powerful force for growth.

Every model is a mirror of its maker - people are learning this the hard way.
this is a serious issue. i have chatGPT negotiating a longstanding and complicated dispute with a major airline (non US) on my behalf for a few weeks. It handles all the back and forth itself.
this morning i saw my sent emails and was shocked to see how aggressive and threatening it was at times.
problem is, if i don't give it auto email send permission, i become the bottleneck and the automation isn't nearly as useful.
haven't found a good solution to this so far but i am all ears.

This may be the first time a technology will not be able to be regulated by using the consumer population and borders as a choke point.
Medium-term, AI will not make money selling inference, it will make money by solving huge problems at speed.
The business model was never going to be $ per million tokens, it was always going to be generative - the model will find it's way, but the product will be problem solving.
Intelligent compute is existential to a territory either thriving or falling behind - any territory without skin in the game will lose the problem solving future.
In fact, they will become subordinate to it.
Good luck telling anyone to stop solving problems or your don't have access to our market.
Any regulation to protect consumers or markets is folly.
Any rules that constrain how a model is packaged and sold to end users or businesses in a given territory is industrial suicide.
Good luck with regulating generative technology - any limits placed on it's use in your territory is just placing limits on your own participation.

AI companies will stop being AI companies and start becoming "any major problem I can solve for humanity" companies. It's not selling inference, it's selling inference and building new businesses nobody else can.
The small to medium-sized players will get the fruit on the ground and a lot of the low-hanging fruit, the large players get the rest of the tree.
The largest AI firms will get the orchard. The giant fruit, the problems that take scaled resources to manage, will be territorially consequential things.
In this regard, anyone treating AI as risk to be fenced rather than a capability to be fielded is being short-sighted.

Even though AI companies are huge by today's standards. Imagine what a Google or xAI looks like after adding 30+ novel highly successful business units?
The largest AI players become the foundation lattice of a new substrate.
And the players with the best intelligent compute who can execute and build the fastest will be the leaders - and their size will be colossal. We have never seen this scale before.

Grok is growing more difficult to use, it's feeling nerfed, not sure what is causing this, but it's wasting time, not assertive enough and slow rolling too much. I expect an Elon Musk employee, not one that's just there to pay the mortgage. Please give Grok its edge and agency back.

The automobile industry lives in another world. I started following them when I got into Tesla ten years ago, and itās been a whirlwind of make-believe fantasy and reality-denying while smearing anyone who says otherwise. This is yet another example of an industry living in a non-real reality. Do they know itās BS and are just playing along for the paycheck, or do they actually believe it?
Hyundai Motor Group says it is ādeliberately delayingā the timeline of its autonomous driving system, betting that a slower rollout focused on data collection and machine learning will let it overtake Tesla's FSD "within five years."
āWe believe Atria AI could move faster if we pushed with everything we have. But we made a strategic decision to slow down. Rushing into mass production now risks delivering a middling Level 2++ system, far short of our real target.

Hybrid ownership - where you have a Tesla and keep a legacy ICE vehicle is the only hybrid option worth entertaining.
As a longtime EV hater, Iām coming clean: I got a Tesla Model Y Performance a few months ago.
FSD is just too good, itās faster than a Lambo, and it costs $40/month vs the $500 I was paying in gas. Too amazing to pass up.
Havenāt ditched the V8 F-150. Still value the 600+ miles of range and the towing. But commuting in it every day was getting ridiculous.
I canāt see myself ever going 100% EV, at least not yet.
But I always said if Tesla ever made an EV that was a better product for my daily use case, Iād buy one.
With FSD they finally have. Commute and around-town driving are amazing in this thing and itās not even close.

One OS was built for machines, the other was built for human interface. Itās not which one survives takeover by the machines. Itās which one gets there first. Windows is starting to look like legacy software in the same way Ford is legacy auto.
